If your husband is in his mid thirties...

What coat/jacket is he wearing this winter?
Everything in the shops I've looked at seems very 'young' or casual - DH is only 34 but dresses smartly (always wears a shirt never T shirts).

Any suggestions of where to look please? Budget only up to £100 unfortunately.

My DH is the same. He has a lovely wool coat from French Connection. Think they are about £200 new but I got his for £29 with the tags still on off eBay Smile

Sounds like a bargain Fenella! Sorry I should have said in OP that he has a good wool coat for work, this would be for weekend/casual wear with shirts and jeans/chinos. The other issue with buying from EBay is sizing - hes 6ft but thin as a rake!

Currently we have all the coats in the world in our house. No idea what is going on.

DH is super fussy (runshis own specialist niche clothing label - nightmare to shop with). He wears:

Black quilted Barbour jacket (£99)
Deep royal blue wax Barbour (£110 Biscester village) - it's gorgeous and we sent it back to barbour to have the sleeves lengthened as DH is really tall with long arms/legs.
Bright blue duck down puffa THING Confused £60 TK Maxx
Knee length formal wool/cashmere coat (for over suits) £80 TK Maxx

AgathaMystery · 18/10/2016 19:46

It's about £10 to have each sleeve made longer at Barbour.

Lucked · 18/10/2016 19:51

Dh is late thirties and has a super dry wool coat for looking smart.

MrsHam13 · 18/10/2016 19:51

Jack wolfskin is what my dh is wearing.

GinIsIn · 18/10/2016 19:53

Ah, in that case DH has his eye on this one for casual this year - www.frenchconnection.com/product/man-collections-coats-and-jackets/55gnn/wilde-wool-borg-detail-jacket.htm

French Connection is probably a good bet for your DH actually as the arms come up super-long! My DH is 5'11 and wears S/M, and we had to have the sleeves taken up on his last coat from there.

chattygranny · 18/10/2016 19:58

I bought my DS and DSIL (same age as your DH) coats for last Christmas from Next which they've both been pleased with and worn a lot. They seem to have a large range again online this winter.

peaceloveandbiscuits · 18/10/2016 20:01

34 yo DH is smart until he puts on his horrible Musto sailing jacket. It billows because he's so skinny and looks dreadful, but he loves it.

AgathaMystery · 18/10/2016 20:06

peace we had one of those in our house for a decade or so but unfortunately it fell into my eBay pile last year which was a shame as it was fucking awful such a nice jacket. Blush

mowglik · 18/10/2016 21:04

DH is 37 (mid-late 30s?) and wears this Boss jacket for casual wear

He says it's really warm and goes with everything

peaceloveandbiscuits · 18/10/2016 21:16

I love that Boss one! Would really suit DH. Will work on him...

My dh has this one from Pretty Green - it's lovely on and they do it in a few colours www.prettygreen.com/products/mens-sevenoaks-jacket-873/?color=burgun&size=l

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 18/10/2016 22:24

Barbour, classic, well made (UK) and suits all shapes and sizes. They do have some outerwear for £120-£150 mark if you can stretch to that much or if you can get a discount code for any of their stockists. Or if you can get to the north east they have a heavily discounted factory shop in South Shields area.

teacher54321 · 19/10/2016 09:10

DH is 37 and also refuses to wear anything without a collar... he has a lovely Barbour jacket he got last year, it's a wax one, quite fitted, not quilted and is v smart. It was a couple of hundred quid though (MIL got it for him for his birthday). He also has a red Crew jacket that's a fleece lined waterproof one for walks etc.

drspouse · 19/10/2016 09:27

My DH is neither 6ft nor 30s nor thin as a rake nor smart... but he also has a virtual coat shop in the house! I think it's because men's coats are all so similar that he thinks "if I just get one that's a tiny bit different it will be perfect"...

He has a couple from Eddie Bauer but I suspect that might be a bit old man for all your DPs.

whiteonesugar · 19/10/2016 09:48

My DH is 36 and has the same as whyhellodaffodil's dh! and he also has a reiss Harrington style one that is wool. and he has a couple of blazers, one navy from Zara and one tweed from a vintage shop. He has a lot of clothes!

Nuttypops · 19/10/2016 09:59

A Barbour padded jacket, not quilted, think it was about £220 but he has worn it endlessly for the last 2 years and continues to so well worth the price I think.
He has a north face waterproof coat that he wears on more casual days as well, I am not a fan of it.

squiz81 · 19/10/2016 19:38

Not sure if this would be too casual but I got dh this RVLT coat from tk Maxx I think it was about £40. It's very cosy. He has a jasper conran wool coat for smart.

Dp is 6ft 2 and a rugby build.
He's after a navy pea coat but in mean time has a padded jacket from Fatface, a waxy type from Crew and some long woolly/cashmere vintage coat.
He's sporty/beach/sails man type rather than trendy tho
