Hair toner(?) advice

I am transitioning from dyeing my hair it's original natural colour (dark brown) to letting the grey show.

Yesterday I had some highlights done - slices in my short hair. My hairdresser had to resort to bleach on the previously dyed ends to lift the colour having tried a high lift tint first. She then used a toner; 7.1. The salon uses Wella products.

I'm pleased with how it looks now, however I'm going on holiday at the weekend to somewhere where it will be very hot and sunny. I am worried about the toner washing out and also the effects of the sun. My natural undertone is yellow. What should I buy to take with me to both protect my hair (a hat for one thing) and also to tone down any brassiness? Is it worth buying the same toner as she used? I can't find it online though.

You can buy the toner on Amazon but please be careful to use a low volume developer, and don't leave it on for long: 10 mins or so.

You can tone down brassiness in between toners by using purple conditioner. I use Davines Alchemic conditioner in Argent.

Or you could add a squirt of lilac Crazy Colour to your usual conditioner.

To protect your hair on holiday, rinse before swimming and after swimming in chlorinated water. It will fade a bit in the sun so cover up as much as you can.

Thank you - so you have to use the toner mixed with a developer? It was on my hair for five minutes yesterday in the salon.

Yes, it's a light peroxide solution - you can buy it from Black hair shops. 2% or 10 vol, I think, but check on the toner bottle.

Fab - thank you

You can get travel sized purple shampoos.

Thank you for that - I'll probably buy full size online as I am running out of time to do things. I usually decant whatever shampoo and conditioner I'm using into small bottles.
