My husbands' work Christmas ball is coming up next month, I went shopping yesterday and tried this on

www.coast-stores.com/p/metallic-stripe-makena-dress/1704798?locale=en

I absolutely loved it but my husband was concerned that I'd never be able to wear it again, my work don't have a big party each year so really the only occasions I have to dress up are his annual party and weddings.

Do you think it's appropriate for weddings/any other occasions? My husband has me worried that it's purely a Christmas party dress due to the colour and the flare on the skirt being a bit OTT.

That is a lovely dress. I don't think it's too much to wear for other special occasions either. I would wear it for a wedding or other special occasions.
It's not too ball gown either .

If you love it and feel good wearing it, that's what matters!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 08/10/2016 13:51

Do you have good legs, particularly shapely knees? I have nice calves & ankles, but fat knees and that dress is a style which accentuates my knees in an unflattering way.
If yes, I'd go for it, the dress is very stylish, striking & I love the metallic.

It's beautiful 👍

Nettletheelf · 08/10/2016 17:08

It's gorge. Metallics are not just for Christmas! I might buy it now I've seen your link.

ShmooBooMoo · 08/10/2016 20:07

Now that's special! I really love that. I think you could wear that to weddings, Christmas stuff etc. And as another mnetter said you would get a fair amount back if you sold it afterwards.

Have you got a code? Sometimes Coast codes are floating around. May be worth asking here/ doing a google search.

blondieblondie · 08/10/2016 20:10

Gorgeous dress! You shall be the belle of the ball in that.

ShmooBooMoo · 08/10/2016 20:13

There seems to be a 15% off for students code around...if you know anyone with an NUS card who would buy on your behalf?

lindsey077 · 08/10/2016 20:18

Thank you all for being so lovely, I'm excited to buy it now. I have two weddings next year and potentially a hen party at the races so I'm sure it will be a worthwhile purchase.

OP - I have this dress! It's beautiful. I'm a size 6/8 and it looks very flattering on. I am an hourglass so it suits my shape as it doesn't hug my hips. xx

HappyGirlNow · 08/10/2016 20:52

Love it!! Grin

EnidButton · 09/10/2016 00:35

It's a wow dress. Please buy it if it made you feel amazing when you tried it on. Clothes that do that are pretty rare really and you should have a dress you feel incredible in.

I love it. The shape is gorgeous.

EnidButton · 09/10/2016 00:36

Oh you are going to get it. Good. Smile

NicolaMarlowsMerlin · 09/10/2016 00:39

Lovely. So glad you are going for it. Perfect for the races too.

sleepwhenidie · 10/10/2016 13:58

Its gorgeous and if you feel fabulous in it then it will look that way. Always buy that thing you absolutely love and feel great in...and yes, I would wear it to a wedding and I don't think it will particularly date, so you may not be able to wear it frequently (because so memorable), but you may well be pulling it out for a party in 5-10 years, I have a few things like this!

TheTroutofNoCraic · 10/10/2016 20:29

I love it. If you can afford it and feel good in it then buy it.
