I'm on the hunt for WARM mud proof boots for watching kids playing football for hours and hours....

I've resigned myself to spending my Saturday mornings for the foreseeable future standing in a muddy field while my cherubs chase after a ball. I've got a decent warm coat but my feet always end up freezing. Any recommendations? They do not have to be stylish or beautiful, merely warm and comfortable Smile

Hah I came on here armed with a link to exactly the same wellies as yours IveAlreadyPaid.

I live in mine, they're fabulous. They're really comfy to walk in, have a removable fleecy liner which I can wash, and they're shorter than normal wellies so they're easier to shove on and kick off.

They're the best wellies I've ever had.

RockinHippy · 08/10/2016 14:39

I have Snow boots, very warm, leak proof, easy clean & non slip too. I got my last pair, which are By Guess in TK Max for around £50, I'm on my. 3rd year with them now too

originalmavis · 08/10/2016 14:44

Hiking boots, hiking socks, silk liners, tights. That just about does it for me. I hate standing in a cold, muddy, damp, frozen field watching footie.

Yes they are brilliant. Unlike most snow boots they are also waterproof. We live in a snowy place and standing around for hours watching the kids sledging - my feet were warm and dry. Other people in expensive boots complaining of cold feet.

The only downside of those boots is they smell funny - I think it's the type of rubber. Smells like cat piss and gets worse when I've been wearing them for a while and take them off.

I still love them though.

thanksamillion · 08/10/2016 19:11

I've got Geox snow boots. They're really comfortable, pretty waterproof and toasty warm. They were pretty expensive (although I got them in a sale) but they're on their third year and still look good.

Bluetrews25 · 08/10/2016 19:58

Muckboots, the genuine ones, are warm and won't split after 3 weeks use. Expensive, but worth it for longevity.

Jojay · 08/10/2016 21:12

Thanks everyone. I survived footie today in my old snow boots and extra socks but I know the worst is yet to come!

I like the look of those warm wellies and see they come in kids sizes too - I might get DD a pair too as she has to hang out with me.

Thanks again everyone.

Muck Boots are fab! I run a livery yard, so I use mine all year round. You don't even need very thick socks when its cold and snowy :D

Timetogetup0630 · 09/10/2016 14:44

Muck boots.
Warm and waterproof. Rubber and neoprene and a very good sole.
I work at a riding stables and wear mine all winter. And walk miles in them too.
About £90 from farm suppliers, horse tack shops etc. A good investment.

superbean · 09/10/2016 20:11

I have a pair of Dubarry boots for when it's really cold. They are expensive. Be warned though a lot of people think they are a bit twattish, even in the countryside. If it's above about 5 degrees you will have very sweaty feet.

For super muddy and cold, I have Aigle boots, (I think they are much better than Hunter), and I wear a welly liner with them. Barbour do good ladies socks and welly liners. Lots of the shooting crowd wear Le Chameau (sp?) which again are pricey but I am told they are v warm if you're standing about a lot. I think they are neoprene lined.

I have just bought some for the kids this year from the Warm Welly company. I think they make adult boots too. They are neoprene lined. Can't vouch for them yet but the company was set up by a farming family, so I reckon they will be good. Good luck!

PoshPenny · 09/10/2016 20:14

Neoprene lined wellies. Better than leather country boots which will be a faff to clean the mud off compared to blasting a welly with a hose.

MotherofPirates · 09/10/2016 21:20

Another vote for Celtic Sheepskin Aqualambs. The only ones that keep my feet warm (no socks needed) and I find them really good at holding out water too. I very naughtily stick mine in the washing machine a few times a year and they always come out fine! (I say naughtily as I do not believe this is recommended by the manufacturers). They don't look pretty though - like Uggs.

OlennasWimple · 10/10/2016 01:14

Go half a size up

Buy fleece inner soles

buy welly liners (Hunters often get into TK Maxx)

Wear two pairs of socks, one thin inner layer and one woolly / thermal / ski pair

shovetheholly · 10/10/2016 10:56

Those Decathlon boots are a bargain! I'm getting a pair for the garden! Thank you so much for posting the link.

Perihelion · 10/10/2016 11:17

Muck boots Arctic sport.
I have the coldest feet in the world and use these for dog walking in the winter. They are too hot for the summer.
Neoprene and fleece lined.

DerelictMyBalls · 10/10/2016 11:41

I have some fabulous fur-lined zip-up boots from Joseph Seibel. They are the comfiest things I have ever worn.

IJustLostTheGame · 10/10/2016 12:18

I'm saving up for these.
www.timberland.co.uk/shop/en/tbl-uk/women-footwear-boots/tbc-8302R214

I tried them on last week. They are like wearing slippers, the sole has padded memory foam stuff.
I don't know how hard wearing they are but DH has some 8 year old timberlands still going strong

Pantsalive · 10/10/2016 12:52

I have a pair of these Grubs boots. They definitely keep my feet warm.

havalina1 · 10/10/2016 12:54

Ariat boots - worn by riders casually everywhere. Warm toasty feet. Extremely comfortable. In my opinion, look nicer than dubarry as they are narrower up the leg.

BummyMummy77 · 10/10/2016 12:55

Dubarrys if you're feeling flush. Bogs are HUGE here. Not sure if they're in the uk yet but pretty much every kid here has them and lots of adults.

Made from neoprene and cold rating to -30'oe something crazy. And you can throw them in washing machine.

havalina1 · 10/10/2016 12:56

Look for the Windermere boot! www.ariat-europe.com/uk/Women-FOOTWEAR-COUNTRY-TALL_BOOTS

BummyMummy77 · 10/10/2016 13:04

Oh they do www.bogsfootwear.co.uk/shop/womens-boots-slip-on-shoes

BigusBumus · 10/10/2016 16:44

It depends on your budget. I have Dubarrys which are OK, but better doe warmth are my Le Chameau Vierzonord neoprene wellies. Much cheaper than my Dubarrys, and have lasted for 12 years of shooting and bating so far.

BigusBumus · 10/10/2016 16:45

*beating not bating!!
