I'm on the hunt for WARM mud proof boots for watching kids playing football for hours and hours....

I've resigned myself to spending my Saturday mornings for the foreseeable future standing in a muddy field while my cherubs chase after a ball. I've got a decent warm coat but my feet always end up freezing. Any recommendations? They do not have to be stylish or beautiful, merely warm and comfortable

I've got country boots which are great. Mine are by Dublin River, I wear them all the time. Size up and wear thick socks!

Just got some Nevica brown boots, fur lined for this exact job! Will be trying them at the match tomorrow. Very comfy though. £50 from sports direct

Because my Dubarrys (£££) are still going strong after several years of use.

You need Muck boots. I have a dog and wear these all year round. Cool in summer, warm in winter.

I bought some Dr Marten's Charla last year - they are very tough, waterproof and look pretty good IMO

Muck boots are great f or keeping your feet warm.

Try Celtic Sheepskin Aqualamb boots. Have had mine for 5 years now and they're fab. They're not waterproof like wellies but great for muddy walks if the mud isn't too deep or you're in standing water.

It's all about the layers of thermal tights / socks / walking socks
I wear wellies and my feet are never cold, because I bought the next size up from my shoe size and wear enough layers in them.
Walking boots would also work, but are much , much more expensive and take much longer to change into and out of when you get back to the car.

I've got Blackfox Cheyenne boots. They look a bit like Uggs (from a distance) but they're actually made from brushed PVC and lined with some sort of fake wool. They're very comfortable and extremely warm, and I got a lot of use out of mine last winter. They look good to go for this winter too - no signs of wear so far. I think you have to order them online - try googling them.

Neoprene wellies? With a decent insole and good sock layers.

That's what I'm banking on this winter for dog walking.

Merrell Decora Sonata are fantastic.

Dubarry's - goretex lined and have a thick sole. I wear them watching matches, dog walking & as apres ski boots. Also look good enough to wear shopping.

If you want really warm tootsies and you haven't got sheepskin lined boots, you can just get sheepskin insoles to put in any boots, it does make the boot tighter but really squishy and comfy and works really well, especially good for making wellies warmer. You can get them online easily.

Ecco do some properly waterproof and warm winter boots...take a look on sportpursuit a they often pop up at half price.

Dubarrys are fantastic. Or snow boots from Mountain Warehouse: practical and inexpensive but not exactly stylish. Nothing worse than having freezing feet

Get some goat socks from wrigglywrigglers.co.uk - they're life changing foot warmers!

Wool socks. In layers. Not packed too tight because the air is an insulator. Add sheep skin boots and you'll be dreaming of ice baths.

I had some Sorel boots but dd wears them now. I found they weren't comfortable enough for long walks (tried wearing them dog walking here in the snow).
