Can you recommend a good eye make-up remover?

Preferably of a Boots-type budget? I can't bring myself to spend big bucks on something you wipe off, but then again the Nivea one I'm using at the moment stings a bit, and requires lots of wiping, so I'm open to suggestions!

I like clinique's but if I'm a bit strapped use No7 one, it's a blue oily liquid rather than a cream/milk type cleanser and is pretty good. I wear benefit mascara and it is a bugger to get off, but it copes ok without any scrubbing. I think it was £8 a bottle but often boots have £5 vouchers for money off the No 7 range and then it's a bargain!

As pp says I use the no.7 one mainly, as I tend to get it with their £5 off vouchers. It's similar to the clarins one but much cheaper. They now also do a non-oily no need to mix version.

I ran out once and didn't have money for a more expensive one, I got a L'Oréal one on offer, and have found that ok. I have really sensitive eyes and it doesn't bother me at all, but it's not quite as good with waterproof mascara and I sometimes have panda eyes slightly in the morning.

Like nearly said I really like Clinque's "Take the day off" bottle. I know they're a little pricey but it's literally the only stuff that gets my eye make up (particularly my mascara) completely off.

Not Garnier. It's rubbish. Reading with interest.

Have tried loads. Lancôme is best but £££. Nivea one makes my eyes sting too. The price of this one falls between those two but works for me. About 10 quid in boots. HTH.

Which Nivea do you use? I find the ware based one great but hate the oily one which I find needs lots of wiping

Micellar water. You can get it in the pound shop. It's great

Soap & water. Seriously.

I use the body shop chamomile cleansing oil. Its not marketed as an eye makeup remover but it gets rid of waterproof mascara and doesn't sting or make my eyes feel tired.

Micellar water on a cotton round.
I use garnier, and boots own brand. Does the trick without rubbing, even on Maybelline gel eye liner which is bombproof.

I'm using the ordinary eye make up remover, and have done for 20 years, and it's never stung my eyes.

I used Simple for years (the only one that didn't make my eyes sore/red/tired). Now I'm trying Neals Yard for ethical reasons but it's more ££ and not as good.

Body shop chamomile

I've never had eye make up that Simple can't remove. I spend a lot on skin care, but have found Simple's cleanser to be the best one for removing make up.

The No. 7 one. I used to use an unbudgeable max factor mascara and this was the only one for the job/

Agree with micellar water. Am using that instead of eye make up remover now. L'Oréal one is fab.

I use Eve Lom - all in one cleanser and it is the b*llocks. I've got super sensitive skin and this is my holy grail product but it is expensive (lasts AGES though) but I've got friends who swear by Superdrug's Hot Cloth cleanser as good alternative. Get a batch of face flannels to use it with rather than the mimsy muslin cloth that comes with it. You need smallest blob, massage all over then soak cloth in hot water (I go as hot as I can face it). I only ever use cotton pads that I've dampened with warm water and then squirted some baby oil onto. Removes every last trace of eyemakeup. Never irritates my eyes and conditions my lashes. I've tried various 'removers' over the years (I'm 42) and this is by far the best for me - cheap as chips too.
