Hope this link works better: bit.ly/2dKFJPH. If this dress isn't suitable- any ideas for one that would be? Tall, curvy apple

Wow, that's some long link. Grin
Or maybe something like:

Remember that fashion in London is often a lot more low key and casual than elsewhere. What is the bar? I may be wrong, but I would guess that it's highly unlikely that anyone else will be dressed in 40s attire, or even particularly dressed up at all!

Tortadellanonna · 05/10/2016 18:05

It's cahoots

Floisme · 05/10/2016 18:21

Oh ignore the miserable Londoners and dress up Grin

I agree that dress doesn't scream 40s but if you added 40s style hair and make up, then I think it could work.

steppingout · 05/10/2016 18:34

The first dress would work with 40s hair and makeup. Or something like this - theseamstressofbloomsbury.co.uk/shop/peggy-wrap-dress/.
Sorry - link hasn't worked! They make dresses to pretty authentic vintage patterns. Have fun!

ChickyDuck · 05/10/2016 18:44

Firstly, cahoots is brilliant, you'll have a brilliant time! But honestly, just wear something that makes you feel fabulous. If that's in the theme then absolutely go for it! If it's not it really really won't matter.

itstheyearzero · 05/10/2016 19:17

If you have a bit of money to splash, I would get something from here
www.nancymac.co.uk
and you could wear it again for other occasions. I bought one for a wedding recently and felt fabulous! Gorgeous dresses :)

SuckingEggs · 05/10/2016 19:17

Check out Pretty Eccentric. Sorry can't do a link.

DianaT1969 · 05/10/2016 21:19

For lower cost, perhaps a tea dress from Lindy Bop would work.

Tortadellanonna · 06/10/2016 16:52

Thanks all, nancymac is beautiful but too expensive, pretty eccentric
Looks spot on. I want to dress up- even if I do look like a country hick!

I have a few lindybop dresses and they're lovely for the money you pay. I also have some from here: www.thehouseoffoxy.com/1940s-fashion
They're also really lovely Grin
