Curdling foundation

Anyone know what causes foundation to react with moisturiser and go lumpy? I'm using a l'occitaine 5% shea butter face cream and a Rimmel bb foundation and they don't seem to like each other. I don't wear the foundation every day so happy to replace it, but I don't want to spend a fortune either. I have dry, translucent pale skin but don't like oily feeling products on my skin. The moisturiser is lovely, sinks in well and doesn't feel greasy.

Do you mean you kind of get clumps of skin coming off when you rub it on?

It's silicone if that's the case. Loads do that to me, worst culprits were Elemis Marine Cream and Neal's Yard Frankincense Intense serum. Serums are a bugger for it. Could be your moisturiser or your foundation, depending on the silicone content.

The only solution really is to buy stuff with no silicones, (but they smooth the skin so beautifully!) or, leave quite a while between the one and the other, and pat the foundation on, rather than stroking it on iyswim?

It drives me mad. The latest to do it to me is L'Occitane Divine, I only use it at night because it is very rich, but if I put my facial oil on top, off peels my face onto my fingers! Can't be the oils, so must be the cream.

It's called rolling, when you have too much unabsorbed product on your face and you apply another layer too quickly, it causes it to 'roll.'

The only solution really is either to avoid silicones as a PP said, or just give yourself longer between skincare regime and make up application. And apply the skincare products less heavily.

And a foundation primer would help too, but obviously you have to wait for the serum etc to absorb first.

You can also have problems if you're mixing water based and oil based products.
