Autumn to winter coat, hood, removable padded lining

I know this may be a big ask but I'm on the hunt for a coat with a hood with padded removable lining to replace my ancient, tatty Noa Noa one. The coat I have is perfection - waxed embroidered cotton, with a zip and poppers, over-knee length, tailored at the waist, generous pockets and hood big enough for my big head, and a drawstring round the hood so the wind doesn't blow it off. I don't expect all those features, sigh, but the hood and removable lining are key. And preferably grey, khaki green or taupe. Can anyone help me??

No-one?

Mine is Parka London. The lining comes out and the fur hood trim zips off. It's not waterproof though.

Nearlyadoctor · 01/10/2016 20:37

Barbour website? Lots of different styles.

SnookieSnooks · 01/10/2016 20:49

Make a visit to Cotswold? (Outdoor shop). I have a Beeghaus coat from there with a removable liner and hood. It is very very waterproof and completely wind proof too.

Thanks for those, but just to be horrendously fussy, I'm looking for something a bit more 'stylish' and a bit less functional-looking. My Noa Noa coat can be dressed up or down, and has a lovely pattern and embroidery on it. I'd just buy it again but I've scoured eBay and the internet and it doesn't exist anymore Sad

This is my holy grail of coats too! Watching with interest.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/10/2016 09:51

This is mine. I thought it was quite stylish!

n0ne · 02/10/2016 10:17

I found one on a Swedish auction site but it's the wrong size (and in Sweden). The pic doesn't do it justice - it's much more figure-hugging and feminine on.

Maybe waxed cotton is wrong. More like thick, woven cotton, almost canvas.

Is there anything remotely like this out there???

Love your parka Remus. Do they go on sale much?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/10/2016 10:30

Thanks, John. I got mine for £85 so was a v happy lady!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/10/2016 10:30

Sorry, NOne but that doesn't look like what I think a parka is.

everythingsgoingsouth · 02/10/2016 10:42

The OP didn't call it a parka, her one is a padded, waterproof, hooded raincoat i would say?
have you tried seasalt/joules/lands end/whitestuff/boden? they seem to do those flowery coats sometimes.

not flowery but waterproof, detachable hood and lining, smartish?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/10/2016 10:50

Sorry. You are right. I must have been feeling cross about the 'stylish' comment.

Nearlyadoctor · 02/10/2016 10:51

I would suggest Boden in view of the op's photo.

JohnCheese · 02/10/2016 11:06

Thanks Remus. Wow what a bargainEnvy

Apologies the thread interruption op

n0ne · 02/10/2016 11:07

It doesn't have to be flowery!

That Debenhams coat is pretty bang on, everythingsgoingsouth!

Sorry if I offended anyone with the stylish comment, I'm not saying a parka isn't stylish. I couldn't find the right word, hence the inverted commas.

Not my definition of stylish, and no lining but:

Remus I have that Parka London coat, and I remember recommending it and posting here when it was on sale. I always smile when you now recommend it, as you often do, and wonder if I brought it to your attention. Glad you like it as much as I like mine!

carrielou2007 · 02/10/2016 11:44

I can't find it now but I have a Joules coat called 'winchester' very similar sounding. It's navy blue, not waxed but it waterproof with inner zip in furry jacket but to add in for winter. It's a fab autumn/winter/spring walk the school/preschool run in all weathers. Bought in the sale from John Lewis for £75 and saw them in khaki in Joules outlet in Street too not long ago.

n0ne · 02/10/2016 12:42

This is close but a but boring: m.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-judith-detachable-lining-mid-length-parka/grey/p/3017378

Lovely print but maybe not very warm: m.johnlewis.com/seasalt-rain-collection-hellweathers-printed-mac-stormy-seas-fathom/p/2915934

I've got a sea salt hellweathers in plum deffo spring/summer only. Very waterproof and squishes down easily to stash under the buggy. I do feel very frumpy in it though. Was bought from outlet at Street for £59.50 so I put up with it as it really is an excellent waterproof jacket Grin

NotAMammy · 02/10/2016 13:15

I'm very interested in this too. I saw a trick somewhere else that people put a gillet under their coat for the added warmth so I think I'll be using that this year as it should give extra life to the coat. Having a hood that fits my head (including ponytail) and doesn't blow off is the holy grail. Only my very practical outdoorsy jacket has that.

n0ne · 02/10/2016 15:02

Thanks carrielou, it's not at all clear from the pic how warm the Hellweathers would be. Shame, I love the waves print on it. It doesn't look frumpy to me! But apparently I have a weird idea of 'stylish' Wink

Acurtis - it's nice and I'm v pleased with it but glad I didn't pay full price for it, as one of the poppers has already broken! I had never heard of them until I (literally!) walked straight into a rail of lovely fluffy hoods in John Lewis. I dithered for ages because the fur on the hoods is so huge, but I love it now.
