Shu uemura eyelash curlers

Are they really better than the bog standard ones from Boots? I know every beauty editor in the world ever claims to only use Shu uemura, so they must be amazing right? I'm wondering about putting some on my Christmas list.

You know what, No not really, not for the cost. I had some Clarins ones in a gift with purchase a while ago just as good IMO.

VulvaInLaw · 30/09/2016 20:43

The no.7 ones I use are fine, I blast them with a high dryer before using and the curl stays longer. I bought some cheap cheap ones from boots and they were pants, they were £4 or something

MaxineRockatansky · 30/09/2016 20:45

They're crap. A total pain to get in the right position.

I used them for a few weeks after being given them for xmas before going back to my cheapie superdrug favourites

DarkBlueEyes · 30/09/2016 20:57

Totally worth it imho. Never found any others as good.

Pinkvici22 · 30/09/2016 21:22

I find them bloody useless!

TheBitterBoy · 30/09/2016 22:56

So it looks like I might be better upgrading to a slightly more expensive model but not necessarily Shu uemura. Anyone got any additional recommendations? I have cheapie ones that are ok but I don't feel like they give as much of a defined curl/lift as I'd like.

It depends on your eye shape. If they are very round, Shu Uemura won't be a good fit because it's got a more shallow curve. I can't use Shu Uemura for this reason, but people who have different eye shape to mine can't use the cheapie Revlon I favor, either.

UnderseaPineapple · 30/09/2016 23:45

Kevyn Aucoin curlers!

They open really wide and are shaped more for the Western eye than the Shus. You can get every lash in there in one go and give a really good curl.

You can get them in SpaceNK

Foxyspook · 30/09/2016 23:49

I like Laura Mercier ones that are a complete different design. S E didn't fit my eye shape, pinched and then pulled out half my lashes, so I don't rate them too high

Youremywifenow · 01/10/2016 00:01

I had some and when the rubber pads wore out, couldn't find any replacements.
Got tweezerman ones instead and they are just as good

LittleOyster · 01/10/2016 01:04

I have the shu uemura ones and also round eyes. I agree with what other posters say: they pinch, and are nothing special. Will be investigating some of the alternatives recommended here, thanks.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/10/2016 01:39

I have some really ancient Bodyshop ones and I've never found anything worthy to replace them.
New Bodyshop - nope
Revitalash- utter rubbish
Mr Mascara- snapped
Boots- pinched me

I picked up some S U ones expecting them to be all Holy Grail but they looked really meh so I didn't part with my £20

NantucketNightbird · 01/10/2016 06:37

I bought £1 primark ones and they do the job well Smile

mrsvilliers · 01/10/2016 06:41

Nothing special imo. I find Space NK own brand the best, £15 including an extra rubber pad and you can turn the rubber pad over so they last ages.
