Boots like these but cheaper

I've been obsessing about these, feel like they would solve a million dressing problems this autumn and winter (work with almost everything in my wardrobe, look cool, are comfy for walking and seem like they can take a pair of chunky socks too when it gets really chilly). I love the colour of the leather (not horrible yellow tan or dull brown like many alternatives I've seen), the chunky sole and the fact they are not the height of fashion so hopefully I can wear them for a long time.

Here they are www.toa.st/uk/product/womens+boots/f0gac/olivia+boot.htm?categoryref=%2fcategory.aspx%3fcategoryid%3dwomens%2520boots%26seoterm%3dwomens%2520boots%26&pcat=womens+boots&adimage=&clr=F0GAC_Walnut

But happy to slum it with these too

I wouldn't want to pay over £200 at the very vary max though. Anyone wants to help me find a pair similar but within budget?

I freakin love those boots.

ellyelly247 · 28/09/2016 13:51

(Sorry, v unhelpful)

ImYourWomanJonSnow · 28/09/2016 13:53

They are gorgeous aren't they elly

WindPowerRanger · 28/09/2016 17:18

These are similar, though not as nice. But for £95, perhaps you can grin and bear it?

www.office.co.uk/view/search?search=brogue+boots

few here?

OCSockOrphanage · 28/09/2016 20:55

The first pair, presumably the ones you like best, are gorgeous. The rest are.. substitutes. I think I would keep looking.

ImYourWomanJonSnow · 28/09/2016 21:00

thank you all.

I already have a pair of black Blundstones so covered for black but the ambassadors that goingsouth suggested could be a contender www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/1,41/2261845008?referer=carousel

God they are too nice. Do you have a big birthday coming up? Could you sell a wee kidney?

ImYourWomanJonSnow · 29/09/2016 10:31

None of the substitutes are good enough really are they.

Yeah, I reckon kidney selling is the only way forward.
Or finally declutter my wardrobe and attic and sell some stuff on eBay, as I have been threatening to do for months...

They look like mend boots to me but if you love them get ebaying!

Sadik · 29/09/2016 11:34

Can't help at all - they're absolutely beautiful. But very expensive.

How heavy are you on shoes? I can't say I'd stretch to that much, but they wouldn't ever go out of fashion if you could afford them . . .

ImYourWomanJonSnow · 29/09/2016 11:55

I have a funny way of walking so my heels do wear out - but these you can send to the worksop that made them and they will mend them for free.

Oooh you people who tell me that they are beautiful, you're not helping at all:)

youngestisapsycho · 29/09/2016 12:05

Just buy them.... they are gorgeous and I'm sure well worth the money, especially if they get repaired for free too!
Get an interest free c/card, buy the boots, cut up the card, pay off in 3 months.

AlistairSim · 29/09/2016 12:12

They are generally so well-made it would be an investment. If you look after them they should last the rest of your life.

They are beautiful >sigh

Sadik · 29/09/2016 16:44

Just a word of warning - they didn't say they'd repair for free, but:

"When the sole or heel wears they can be returned to Cheaney who – for a reasonable charge – will put the shoe back on its original last, remove sole from upper and replace. "

Given Cheaney's usual market, I'd check how 'reasonable' a reasonable charge is to a normal mortal . . .

Sadik · 29/09/2016 16:47

I've just checked on their website, and refurbishment costs £95!

Sadik · 29/09/2016 16:50

One more thought, Cheaneys do have a factory shop in Desborough, if you live anywhere near Northamptonshire. It's years since I've been there (used to live in the area), but you could always give them a call & see whether they sell ladies styles out of the factory shop. They'd generally be 1/2 to 1/3 retail prices, so still not cheap, but considerably more affordable.

HappyGirlNow · 29/09/2016 16:54

Honestly? I really dislike those boots, colour and style, and prefer most of the alternatives linked.

But if you can afford it go with what you love, don't still spend a lot of money on something you only quite like...

AlistairSim · 29/09/2016 17:06

You can have them resoled and heeled at a proper cobblers for a fraction of the price of a refurbishment. It's the leather uppers that you need to take care of, regular oiling would be the way to go.

SleepFreeZone · 29/09/2016 17:11

I was looking at lots of brogue boots when I wanted some brown boots for my partner. There are lots out there for much less than that price. Next and M&S from memory.

Ilikegin · 29/09/2016 17:22

I have seen some gorgeous ankle boots in dune, they have a brogue style lace up boot like these but in black, called Parka, also a tan or black brogue style Chelsea boot, called Quenton and a doc Martin looking boot in black or tan called Quincey (they look much nicer in person than on the website)

all around £90-£125

I'm sorry I don't know how to link from my phone!

Fizzer123 · 29/09/2016 19:27

The first ones are lovely, get them Wink not helpful

BikeRunSki · 29/09/2016 19:36

If you love, love, love the Cheaney boots, then anything else will be s false economy.

They will probably last for years, but also bear in mind that they'll probably cost a lot to post back for resoling, even if the work is done at "reasonable" cost.

Barbour do similar boots and shoes sometimes too. It might be worth looking at men's or boys styles too.

BikeRunSki · 29/09/2016 19:38

Next men's if your feet are bigger than 6.5.
