Does anybody get their lips done?
I have been booked in as a treat by my DM after years and years of wanting to.
Fully researched the lady and she had done lips and botox etc on friends of ours so I know it's with a legitimate person whos qualified and fully insured etc
Now I'm absolutely shitting myself that I'm going to have a reaction and be the next Leslie ash??!!! Help!

I have thin lips and have sometimes considered this, but doesn't it always look bad? I have seen two women with fillers just this week, and both looked distorted and fake - lips really marring their faces. It was difficult not to stare. But maybe I am only noticing the bad ones? What do you think of the results your friends got from going to this lady you are booked with? Do you think they look better?

I'm a big fan of this but never dared have it done myself.. Yet!
So many celebs have it done now it's part of the norm. A friends daughter went to a place in Birmingham a few weeks back and was very pleased with the results.
Apparently you can choose the amount you want injecting so you could start with a minimum amount and see how you feel.

They look great and very natural.
My main concern is having a reaction or something?
I'm only having 0.5ml to start with.
I have an uneven top lip

I have it done and love it. I used to have full lips but age the bitch took them away. Now they just look normal. You only notice the bad ones because the good ones just look normal.

Nobody has mentioned mine. I can send you pictures of mine if you like? I had 1 syringe and they are gorgeous now.

prepare to hibernate for four days afterwards though and follow the advice before and after regarding avoiding Ibuprofen and Viamin C and icing before and afterwards - oo and putting Arnica creme on to help with bruising.

I've recently had my final baby and been low carbing. One stone down already an slowly starting to pick up some self esteem again.

My mum has had a personality transplant it seems (haha) and booked me in as a treat, all paid for.

But my anxiety is kicking in and I'm suddenly irrationally worried about it.

So it sounds as though I have just been noticing the bad ones. Seriously interested in getting this done myself now (also have an uneven top lip).

The fillers used are made from hyaluronic acid, it's already present in our bodies-it plumps our collagen fibres out. It's therefore very, very rare to react.
The other thing about them is that they're completely reversible. They can be injected with an enzyme to dissolve them, which is s nice safety net to have in the back of your head.
Whoever you're going to, please just make sure they are medically qualified. Facial anatomy is complex - completely fine if you know the structures.
Try not to drink for 24 hours prior, no ibuprofen, aspirin etc.
If you can get some arnica tablets, lots of my clients start them a week before to help reduce any bruising.
Definitely start with 0.5mls, find out which product you're having too. Best one is juvederm smile for 0.5mls (you'll be back though )

I remember hearing about arnica actually. Will go chemist and get some.

It's great to hear it's very unlikely to have a reaction as you said it is already in our bodies.

I'd rather take my time and build up to the look I want to achieve.

I shall order some arnica tablets for before and some cream for after.

I am a big bruiser to be honest.
I bruise very easily.

My mum booked me in for the first day of Oct half term, so technically I can stay indoors for 4/5 days until the worst is over.

I bruise very easily too, but it was hardly noticeable when I had mine done. I went to work the next day and no-one noticed. Mine are very natural - the filler just got rid of the lines above my top lip and has given my lips a stronger shape. I will definitely get them done again!

I had very bad bruises that were noticeable and lasted about a week. The next day I had to tell people I had been to the dentist as my mouth looked swollen. I went out the following evening and tried to cover up the bruising with make up but it still noticed and looked awful. So I would pick a time when you can keep to yourself for a few days!

The first time I had a small amount (can't remember the exact amount) and it made my lips look lovely. The second time I had double and it definitely looked a bit Pete Burns. I kept looking in the mirror in the car on the way home panicking. It did die down though and lasted a long time. I would only have the smaller amount put in again.

I thought Leslie ash's problem was they actually used industrial filler? And now it is mixed in with her own tissue and can't be removed. As long as you're not meeting someone in a bed and breakfast with a dirty needle, you should be able to avoid that outcome pretty easily 😬. Make sure whoever does it is qualified - and not just a one-day 'course'; there are lots of these people around now and they won't know anything about facial structure and what can happen when needles are stuck where they shouldn't be. As others have said, go small at first and don't panic when they are swollen at first.

They don't look as swollen as I imagine in my head that they will be immediately after!

I am booked in for 1ml but I am thinking of having 0.5ml....

What would you advise

I thought they would be huge straight after with the swelling but they really weren't. I personally would have 1ml as i didn't think mine were that big after 1 so I would worry that with 0.5 there would be little change as my 1ml was quite subtle. 1 week later they had gone down and I loved the look of them just done, wish they had stayed like that!

Yep totally makes sense.
Also the price difference is only 30 between 0.5 & 1 ML
So although my mum paying this time. If I was disappointed and wanted more of have to go pay the whole price again straight away
I think perhaps 1ml but of course I'll ask the woman when I go

Had mine done by a nurse practioner in Bolton, best thing I've ever done 0.5ml is perfect amount to not make you look done! Hope you are happy with them x

Goldie did the 0.5ml make much difference then?
I'm worried that 1ml will be too much and end up duck lip. But also worried half a ml won't make much difference and I will be left really disappointed and not able to go back and pay for myself as it will take me months to save it back up for what would be the top up 6-9 months later

You need to allow for some swelling immediately afterwards. Id advise taking an ice pack with you, I always supply one - as it drastically reduces the swelling.
I'd pay for a full 1ml, get half of it, sit with your ice on for 10 mins and see if you want the rest! You can always chuck the rest, easier than having to pay more. A lot of the time 0.7mls gives just that little extra without you needing the full 1ml.
Are you just wanting 'plumping' or do you need some definition around the border too?
