Home bleach

I have just discovered that I can bleach my hair at home - joy! So I have some dramatic stripes of blond amongst my dark hair.

However, I would like it to be whiter - when I went to the hairdressers I have got a much paler bit so I'm confident that it's possible and my DSD tells me that I need stronger bleach.

Can anyone recommend a product?

What strength of peroxide did you use ? The bottles are usually sold in the following strengths - 3% 10 vol, 6% 20 vol, 9% 30 vol and 12% 40 vol. Don't worry too much about the e % and vol stuff...basically the higher the number the stronger the reaction with the bleach and the more it lifts your natural hair colour. If you've managed to get it quite light but feel it's still too yellow then try a purple shampoos (Touch of silver is good, you can get it in Boots and most supermarkets but is even cheaoer in Home Bargaining you have one nearby). The purple tint helps cancel out the yellow tones. Don't leave it on too long though or it will go purple 😂

I'd try the purple shampoo before trying a stronger bleach.

It's just not possible. I've tried so many times! Trade bleach just isn't the same as the stuff us punters can buy.

Not sure what strength it was, it was a highlighting kit from Tesco.

Have got purple shampoo which helps but I want to go paler and paler!!

Will take on your advice though and push the boat out and go to a hairdresser Grin

You can buy trade bleach from Sally's or Salon Supplies. I've been bleaching my hair myself for years but wouldn't advise it if you have long hair. I have a pixie cut so any damaged ends get cut off regularly.

ahhhhhh bleach. Handy hint: not as tasty as it first appears
