Wedding - same outfit for ceremony and evening do?

Do people generally wear the same outfit for both?

I have in the past but then I'm not a pretty-dress sort of woman.

Mid-pm Ceremony followed by food and disco-thing. Might be a bit of a gap in the afternoon, it's not clear. (All at the same "venue" but we're going to be staying off-site... so maybe killing time in the bar or something.)

I never have, didn't realise people did. Although I have changed my shoes. Lol.

TobleroneBoo · 22/09/2016 17:21

I have never known anybody get changed halfway through

I have know 1 person change their outfit. That was because she had 2 dresses and couldn't decide which to wear. I've never changed my outfit and it wouldn't occur to me to

Mirandawest · 22/09/2016 17:26

I've never changed. And no one did at either of the weddings I've had

Getting changed for the evening reception is a really old school thing to do.

I remember my mum and aunts doing it in the 80s/90s but I haven't known anyone do it since.

I had 2 outfits for a wedding a couple of weeks ago. I changed between wedding/reception and night do. We were staying at the hotel next door so I was able to shower and re-do make up before going back. Think I and my DP were the only ones out of 50 people that changed.

Yes.

Though I went to a wedding a couple of years ago where the other guests left en messed after the meal and came back for the evening reception dressed in more casual clothes.

Our table (who all came together) were very confused by it.

Lots of answers quite quickly, thanks!

I'm trying to throw something together out of my wardrobe, trying to spend as little as possible..for smart I have a couple of "evening dresses" and lots of very boring tailored clothing, not much in between.

So that gave me pause for thought as I don't have any "wedding guest" dresses and don't want to buy one.

Gah!
