Mysterious perfume, please help me track it down!!

I've never much liked perfume, but twice in my life I've smelt a scent so nice I stopped to ask the person wearing it what it was, both times in rushed public places (underground and hectic commute) and they both said it was Marc Jacobs, but didn't have a chance to give any more info. I finally had some time spare, at an airport lounge and tried all the MJ perfumes i could see but nothing smelt close. It was a very gentle, warm, vanilla-spicy scent....any ideas???

Perfume changes over time and depending on reaction to different skin. So you may have tried it out at the airport without realising. Is Marc Jacobs too posh do to a sample pack? Could you get yourself to a shop and cover yourself in the assistant's closest guess, walk around in it all day?

Go to a counter and ask for testers on tester papers and then once you've worked out which one it is you can spray it on yourself and see if you like it on yourself.

Marc Jacobs original perfume ( I wear it) is annoyingly hard to get hold of as everywhere seems to just stock Daisy. It's a warm gardenia kind of smell, could it be that one?

That could explain it! It was a very warm, soft smell, no jarring notes, nothing sharp or bright, just soft and vanilla with a but of spice but not musky, really lovely! I will have a look for the original one too.

What's the original one called,is it just Marc Jacobs?

Is it the daisy black edition? It's so hard to get hold of now, my perfume of choice and haven't been able to get hold of a bottle for a few months now. It's definitely vanilla X

Look in Boots as there's lots in stock in my branch. I was told by an assistant the black daisy is just the perfume rather than the eau de toilette.

DameDiazepam that's the one. I've just had a sniff of my bottle and I would say it was definitely floral and not vanilla ( been a while since I've worn it!)
So perhaps not that then. Damn! I was hoping to solve the mystery!
