Could someone look at my trousers please? (Pic)

I'm desperate for a pair of green/olive/khaki casual trousers, as I seem to live in jeans. I bought these. I can't figure out if this is just their style (a bit baggy/loose through the leg), or whether I need one size down.

Alternatively, if these look terrible, recommendations of casual but not tracksuit khaki-type trousers gratefully received!

Can I just add, my bum doesn't usually look like it's half-way to my knees!

I like them, they look fine Smile

Cakescakescakes · 21/09/2016 10:28

I think that's the style of them. They look fine but if you're self conscious about them then don't keep them as you'll ever wear them. I've found after living in skinny jeans constantly for so long that any trousers that aren't skin tight feel weird on me. I'm just not used to them anymore although I fancy a pair of wide legged ones for winter.

BumbleNova · 21/09/2016 10:30

honestly? I think they make you look much bigger than you are.

how tall are you? I'm 5'4 and this type of trouser just looks crap on me.

Jointhejoyrun75 · 21/09/2016 10:33

I agree with Bumble, you need something a bit slimmer fitting. There seems to be a lot of extra material in those trousers.

EssentialHummus · 21/09/2016 10:36

I might just order one smaller and see if there's a bit more definition to them.

I'm 1.75 m bumble - so around 5'7?

This is what they should like

Yeah try sizing down, they look too big for you.

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 21/09/2016 10:39

You have a brilliant figure, please don't wear these trousers they are not flattering!

Penfold007 · 21/09/2016 10:49

There is way too much material in the bum for your trim figure. Try the next size down.

EssentialHummus · 21/09/2016 10:53

Thank you all Flowers. I'll try one size down, but if that's still bum-heavy I will look elsewhere! I may need to actually leave the house and visit a shop

I agree with ItsLikeRain - I think those trousers suit skinny legs and no bum. Your figure is great, but these aren't the trousers for your shape. They're supposed to be a loose cut, judging by the warehouse photo and sizing down will just make them tighter fitting when they should be baggy.

What about these Zara ones? Might they be better?

EssentialHummus · 21/09/2016 11:04

Thanks chin. I like the colour and style of those Zara ones, but realistically I'm going to wear them with chelsea boots and I think there'll be a highwater gap between cuffs and boots.

They don't look dissimilar on the model - she has her hand in the back pocket which lifts some of the fabric.

Runningupthathill82 · 21/09/2016 12:32

Honestly? I know I'm massively outvoted here, but I think you should possibly size up if you like the trousers. Those sort of trousers should be loose fitting (like they are on the model), whereas they sort of pull a bit on your thighs.

BUT. I think what you should really do is return them. They don't fit you properly or do your fantastic figure justice. You can do MUCH better with a teeny waist, great arse and long legs like yours.

PotatoBread · 21/09/2016 12:37

They look a size too big on you tbh. Also elasticated waist plus a front pleat together is rarely flattering on anyone. I think you could do much better - you have a lovely figure but the style of those trousers don't do much to flatter it

LimpidPools · 21/09/2016 12:39

I think your problem is the tie waist. Like an elasticated waist (are they elasticated at the back) they're never going to be flattering.
They'll probably spend a lot of time slipping down, having gone baggy in the arse if you dare to sit down in them.

And they have weird pleating on the front at the top. So they bulge at the front then taper baggily to the ankle.

They're awful! Nicer khaki trousers must exist. (Army surplus? Wink)

EssentialHummus · 21/09/2016 12:55

running thank you for that Flowers.

Right, I'll probably try one size down but am not hopeful. Next step is a visit to Zara / that bit of Oxford Street to wander around and try things on in person.

What about khaki harems? I bought the Asos harems after they were recommended on here and I LOVE them.

PotatoBread · 21/09/2016 13:42

I think even in the next size down they won't look right - you need to get a pair without the awful front pleat. Front pleats never do anyone any favours

EnidButton · 21/09/2016 16:21

I think they look awful. Not sure who they would suit but they don't suit you. You look great, the trousers do not.

Silverstreaks · 21/09/2016 17:17

They've got pleats in the front and no back pockets! Most people are going to look duff in them.

You're slim, you have shape buy something that is more flattering. Good colour though.

burnishedsilver · 21/09/2016 17:25

They are adding bulk in all the wrong places.
How about any of these, from Gap?
