Keratin hair treatment

Aka as Brazilian blow dry I think. If you have restively fine hair have you had it done and was it worth it?

I have shoulder length fine hair cut in a long bob and I'm sick of it. Looks shit, frizzy and doesn't hold shape. I need to do something and was thinking this may be it. But a pricey it...

I need to know this too!! You could have just described my hair!! I've enquired at 2 local hairdressers and neither do it. I have fine / frizzy / candyfloss type hair - need to know if it's likely to ruin it!!

Esalon's Mirror Glaze is the only thing I've found that works on my hair which sounds like yours. DH was taken aback when he saw it after 20 years of watching me attempt to tackle my hair! Much cheaper and less long lasting if it goes wrong then the keratin treatment, maybe worth trying first?

Get the kit off Amazon yourself, £²⁴ I think then no huge loss if it doesn't work. I bloody love it!

No don't do it!! I did this a few years ago and the effects lasted for 6 months but had a lot of itching and hair loss! They put formaldehyde in your hair.

Thanks for replies, I had heard it was better for thick hair. I'm going to give that product a go before committing to kit! Anything worth a go at the minute!

Best thing I've ever done for my hair. Improves the condition, it grows better and makes looking after it much easier. Go to somewhere reputable and you'll be fine. It's a bit disgusting when you have it done and can't wash it until the following day, but worth it. Lasts about 7 weeks on my hair and I pay £140.

Doneracing what hair type do you have of you don't mind me asking?

I have lots of fine hair that used to be curly but changed after illness. It's never grown long before but keratin treatment has helped this. The best thing for me is I get that swishy, swooshy blow out at home now and it lasts/doesn't go frizzy even in hear and humidity. I travel a lot and it saves so much time. Also, always looks 'polished'.

I have had the Kebelo 100 days smoothing treatment several times over the last 2 years. I have very fine hair, highlighted but prone to frizz and needs blow drying to look half way decent. I really recommend it, the condition of my hair has improved and it makes my hair swishy and immune to humidity or dampness frizz. I still have to blow dry my hair but it takes much less time. A gentler treatment than others available. Only downside is the cost (£130 for my shoulder length hair).

I would seriously stay away from this stuff. I've used it 4 or 5 times and I'm convinced it's made my hair thinner at the sides.

Anything that makes your eyes stream, recommends you ventilate your entire house, is not recommended to use in pregnancy, or even around children is probably best to avoid.

For anyone who says they don't use formaldehyde anymore, they don't, but the chemical they use in it's place is apparently just as bad for you.

I now just use shit loads of conditioner and accept that my hair takes a long time to look after. I'd rather that, than use a carcinogenic.

heyjude you can use it every two weeks but I've been leaving it for a bit longer. My hair has never gone back to how it was before but it does wear off, gradually. You can get at least two treatments out of the tube, I'm varying amounts to experiment but I think three is fine on my fine hair. It's £15 a tube but they do a bundle of three products you can chose or have recommended at £22 plus postage, I think it's about £4 p&p? There may well be a first time user discount as well, did the link work? It's taking me to my account, please don't change my orders!

Sorry - re the limp question: no but it is definitely in need of less conditioner at the top. Otherwise it can look like you've left the conditioner in too much or look greasy sooner than usual, nothing you can't sort out with dry shampoo if necessary. I have done this a couple of times and it washes out with the next wash, you just need to remember it doesn't need the full-on, intensive conditioning you might be used to applying in an attempt to calm the frizz! It does say to concentrate on lengths to ends so you could avoid this if you were careful. My hair is dry and I have some short layers so I just put it all over although I start on the rest of the hair and just comb it through the roots at the end.
