Herbs hope it is all going well....

Rose -0 hold your ground!

Beachy? You okay?

Here the week from hell continues.. but I am buying stocks of IKEA Kilner jars and tidying my cupboards which makes me feel more in control sad

herbaceous · 06/10/2016 15:06

Well... it seemed to go quite well. I was in there for 1hr20, which seemed good, and she liked lots the ideas I had for 'new direction', many of which they are already putting in place. So, great minds, and all that.

There was one question I didn't answer so well, but might email her some further thoughts on it later to show keen-ness.

The small Essex town in question, verging on TOWIE territory, has a selection of good charity shops. In one, I picked up a Baukjen maxi dress for £6.50. So, winning already whether or not I get the job!

bigTillyMint · 06/10/2016 15:28

Herbs, that sounds really positive - will keep everything crossed for you.

Lalsy · 06/10/2016 15:42

Herbs, that sounds great! Did you get a good feeling about working there?

I am trying to work in pub, but have spent most of the day blowing my nose and sneezing violently and repeatedly in one of my strange change of temperature attacks, when my body is taken over by snot-producing aliens. The only other customers are a loved-up young couple who foolishly started off saying "Bless you" and now can't stop.

Tried to talk to ds about mooncups universities again, he is getting nowhere.

Any box set recommendations/tips for good series coming up on telly that I could learn how to record? We are going backwards to copper broadband which was never very reliable for tv watching - like West Wing, Scandi - Borgen, Occupied, The Killing, I liked Mad Men and War and Peace and Happy Valley. Found The Fall too nasty.

Cremolafoam · 06/10/2016 15:48

BD, sorry you feel down. Just allow yourself to be sad for a bit.its ok. we are here if you want to give forth. Or not. Plus thinking of the Doggy travelling to you is a delightful thought. What will you put into Kilner jars? I have now got damsons and crab apples, but no time to do anything with so will wrap in newspaper and hope they will last until I come back. Or drop the damsons into a bottle of vodka I have collecting dust somewhere.
Have just had the most unspeakable lunch with DM and ddad. Oscars all round for difficult and challenging behaviour. Mum IS IMPOSSIBLE. and refuses to explain things she is planning to do, specifically so I can fail to be of any help. Dsis is refusing to engage with them. more unnecessary money being thrown about which I can't bear. I am learning that being silent and doing Pilates breathing seems to stop them in their tracks. Seriously it is like being IN A PLAY. Not a fabulaous Rose -written one either.
Rose, glad understanding has been reached. ( love Emma sketch)

Cremolafoam · 06/10/2016 15:51

Oh and well done Herbs. Win win.WinkGrin

Lalsy , I like too much gritty crime, but what about something restful like Victoria or Poldark?

herbaceous · 06/10/2016 16:17

Crem, that sounds ENRAGING. You need to record said exchanges so you can play it back when she makes out you're being unhelpful and 'do I have to do it all myself' ish.

After my course telling me I was the only one invited to interview, Boss lady said she'd had 'six strong candidates'. She was cagey about how many of those were being interviewed.

Lalsy · 06/10/2016 16:29

BD, Kilners sound most soothing.....nothing wrong with a bit of constructive pottering to lift the spirits a little.

Yep, keep em coming, I need stuff that hasn't started yet so I can boot up ye olde recording machine. But along those lines (for me anyway, tho I have to confess with poldark I keep expecting an ad break Grin).

bigTillyMint · 06/10/2016 16:42

I would recommend Victoria for relaxing. I'm not into gritty crime!

So sorry to hear about your parental frustrations, etc, Cremo. You are being very saintly in putting up with it all Halo - I would have cracked long before now.

Are the Kilner jars for dog biscuits/dog food, BD?Wink

Lalsy · 06/10/2016 16:53

They sound completely impossible, Crem.

hattymattie · 06/10/2016 17:15

Crem - it all sounds very wearing. Wine

Herbs - fingers crossed.

Lalsy - We have also run out of boxed sets. There was something called Line of Duty or Call of Duty? Which Herbs really liked. May give that a whirl.

DD2 sent me a snap from her phone of the wonderful James Nortom spotted filming in Cambs complete with fake snow.

MontserratCaballe · 06/10/2016 17:35

Hatty, James Norton is a local boy - lives in Peckham and has been spotted out in the evening. He is very easy on the eye, isn't he?

Darling Crem, sending you much love and strength xxx

MontserratCaballe · 06/10/2016 17:36

BD, love to you too. Think of all the doggy love you will have very shortly. Huge hugs

hattymattie · 06/10/2016 18:30

I love him Monty Grin however went off him slightly, well rather a lot, when I saw Happy Valley - couldn't believe how different he was. I suppose that's the sign of a good actor.

Cremolafoam · 06/10/2016 18:58

Ooh Mr Norton was my Crepey Crush in the BBC War and Peace epic Hatty. ( another recommendation Lalsy) could not believe it was the same actor at all in Happy Valley, which was a brilliant series btw. Line of Duty is filmed here and stars the veritable Keely Hawes. You'll need to start at the beginning for it all to make sense over the three (?) series.

Dsis tells me dmum is 'expecting a nice holiday' next week. When is she planning to fit that in?

Stropperella · 06/10/2016 20:54

Crem, I am gnashing my teeth just reading about the sitch with your dps. I don't know how you keep your cool with them. And wtf about "expecting a nice holiday"? Eh? Sorry you are having to endure all the parental daftness.

I voluntarily went to a mindfulness conference-type thingy at work today. It did not piss me off as much as I thought it would, not least because the person presenting was v nice, and when I spoke to her afterwards, she said she was so relieved it had gone well, she was now going to go home and get "mindfully blotto on gin". Grin

bigTillyMint · 06/10/2016 21:07

Nice holidayGrin You poor thing Cremo. Just remember, "if in doubt, chuck it out" - worked for me when emptying DM's house!

Stropps, when some of my colleagues suggested that booze works for them in a Mindfulness training session, the trainer got a bit upset. I just kept my trap shut and laughed to myself. Still we all had a lovely snooze during the session on the mats, some snoring so loudly there was no doubt that they were relaxed.
Did you get to do the raisin thing?!

Stropperella · 06/10/2016 21:20

Nah, there were no raisins involved. :) It was a very gentle intro to mindfulness and then some info about what you should do if you want to get into it more and become a trainer. Which I don't. I was attending for diplomatic reasons.

JustmeandtheChickens · 06/10/2016 22:28

Glad all went well Herbs Flowers

When will you get feedback?

I have been asked to speak at a significant conference early next year - get me!!

And in S&B news I was complimented on my biker chic look this week Grin

Cremolafoam · 06/10/2016 23:51

Just me, sounds like you are rocking it today. GrinCan you tell us your field , or would that give you away? Vair impressed on speaking at a conference. If anyone wants me to speak on Parental Diplomacy and Ways your Offspring Can Ruin Your Day, I'm your woman.Hmm
So , so tired after Pilates. Am dragging myself through the day ATM. Mentally am still in Iceland as well. Constantly on panic alert.
Night night.

bigTillyMint · 07/10/2016 07:07

Oh Cremo Flowers I know that feeling (as I'm sure others do)

TFIF

CointreauVersial · 07/10/2016 08:14

Oof. Nothing worse than a Friday morning hangover, and a pile of work waiting for me in the office. Yesterday's do went well; it was lovely to catch up with some of our more far-flung staff who I don't see often. Surprisingly good food - possibly the best plate of steak and chips I've eaten outside France. The chairman kindly offered me a lift home, no doubt saving me from even more alcohol.

LOL at Nice Holiday, Crem. You are going to need every ouncee of that Parental Diplomacy, I think.

JustMe - ooooo, get you! I'm impressed.

Herbs - when will you hear about job?

Minfulness training?? None of that nonsense in the construction industry. Grin

Lalsy · 07/10/2016 08:16

Oh Crem Flowers, your poor love. Use us as much as you want.

Smile at mindful pissups.

Did anyone hear that UN envoy bloke yesterday offering his own body in Aleppo? Talk about an understated hero.

Loved Line of Duty, just finished War and Peace (which I had managed to record when it was on). We also all liked Nashville and upcheering glittery fare after Breaking Bad, and some of us like The Good Wife.

motherinferior · 07/10/2016 08:32

Oh Crem darling yes to the 'constantly on panic alert'. Yes. Mine is finally off (well, dormant till my dad requires it) and it's only now I fully realise how draining it is. Much love.
