Me too Stropps! I saw one standing at The Globe. No idea what it was, just that it was most uncomfortable and we left at half-timeGrinBlush
I did see Midsummer Nights Dream at Stratford with my friend and lovely parents though and that was much better!

Auriga, what a lovely surprise!
Herbs, that sounds very promising (re interview and job) - go girl!

Sorry about the MRI scans. I don't think I have ever had oneConfused
And sorry about crappy jobs/training, etc.

TFIF.
Contracts may have been exchanged on DM's house (hastily emailed, printed off, signed and scanned back) but DH's cheapo solicitor hasn't confirmed. Have been round to DFriends with DD for Macmillan cake, dropped DS to footy train and am now going to chill on the sofa.

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/09/2016 18:45

Happy weekend! About to have lunch at Ponce City. How poncetastic is that?

Hope the MRIs go well, Stropps and Auriga. Just don't do what I did and drop the panic button on the way in.

Weather is glorious here, and we have not yet had a row, unlike our hosts...

I've never had one either. Will be thinking of you.

DP and DD2 are unpacking the supermarket order and then I'm hitting that cheapo prosecco (will I need to use the screwtop?)

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 30/09/2016 19:36

I've had one, for my back. It was quite noisy so I wore headphones and a bit claustrophobic so I kept my eyes shut Smile

Our town seems to be having a series of lectures next week which were very under marketed. I've booked 4 and will delight in taking ds to a talk by Red Ken. The last time I heard him speak was when I was 16 at school, so I think it's only fair to let him have the experience!

I am super weird for loving Shakespeare.... I understand that Smile I want to see every play performed before I die (I may make an exception for the Kings, which don't ring my bell, apart from Lear)

Stropperella · 30/09/2016 19:54

Er, I reckon more people rate Shakespeare than don't. :) I reckon the majority are with you, Beachy. Grin

Auriga, I will grit my teeth and get on with it, and think of you doing similar. Nice to get a payment you've already paid tax on. I fear there may be a few of those lurking in our accounts, as when I retrained I told dh he was taking over doing the accounts. But he affected not to hear. Payments in have not been checked properly for some time. I will probably cave soon, as he is still finding excuses not too do it.

Good luck with the house sale, BTM!

Blackduck · 30/09/2016 20:50

I'll join you Beachy...

Auriga · 30/09/2016 20:51

Problem: I am locked out of all my electronic accounts on the work system. E-mail, payroll, IT support, the lot.

I send an external e-mail to IT. They send an automatic reply telling me to log on to the support section of the work intranet Hmm then another saying 'no such user' Confused & when I phone them, deny sending it. I offer to forward it back to them but their service desk account can't accept forwarded e-mails (???)

So I speak to HR on the phone & explain the problem. They agree to send me an e-mail with my employee number, so that I can prove to IT that I am still employed. And they do send an e-mail. To my internal account Hmm

This went on all day, nothing is resolved. And September is nearly over.

Stropperella · 30/09/2016 21:27

Sounds like being stuck in purgatory, Auriga!
I forgot, I don't watch TV really. So have instead helped ds make a chocolate traybake with choc ganache icing. I don't think the Bake-off crowd would be impressed, but it tastes very nice and has done a good job of raising our snottery spirits (I appear to have done a fine job of sharing my school germs with everyone).

Crem, sorry to hear dd is still being a grotbag. I am expecting many years of grotbaggery from my dd and still feel horribly ashamed when she doesn't thank people for presents. Or indeed anything.

Lalsy · 30/09/2016 22:12

Jeez Auriga....

I saw Cymbelime this week (RSC). Odd play, terrific production, Mildord Haven features a lot.

Can only see some posts. My internet is unfixable at least in the short term so we are ping back to copper. (Which didn't work that well but anyway). Good thing we don't want to move house.

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/09/2016 22:18

Not a Shakespeare fan, but do love Brecht. I took DH to see The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui for our wedding anniversary a couple of years ago. Not sure he was terribly impressed...

JustmeandtheChickens · 01/10/2016 07:38

Fizzy wine is essential on so many occasions I find Grin

I'm not a massive fan of Shakespeare but I do remember quite a good production of Julius Caeser at The Globe many years ago.

I bought a TOTP compilation this week - 1975-1979 - and can thoroughly recommend it, took me right back to my youth and made me smile!

Cremolafoam · 01/10/2016 07:39

Love Brecht, love Beckett, and saw a Promenade performance of R&Juliet with Beryl off of the Liver Birds as the nurse in about 1983 that has stayed with me it was so fantastic. ( I was an avid theatre goer for decades until this job took the shine off)

Back to the coalface again this morning. After clearing £100k in sales yesterday, I'm planning on slacking today big time.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 01/10/2016 08:44

Crem, Lisa Dwan is performing in some new Beckett thing called No's Knife - made up from prose texts I think - at the Old Vic. I'm going next week. Maybe it's heading your way?

Blackduck · 01/10/2016 09:13

Peter Brooke's Mahbarata in the Glasgow Tram Sheds...... Three nights... So intense dp talked about it in his sleep......

bigTillyMint · 01/10/2016 09:45

OMG, it's just started peeing it down here!

What's on the compilation, Chickens?

I offered to take DD and DS to see An Inspector Calls - she did it and he is doing it for GCSE. They weren't exactly clamouring to see itGrin

Just putting some Jerk Pulled Pork into the slow cooker and about to make a pavlova - got a few friends round tonight.

motherinferior · 01/10/2016 09:55

Where's it on, BTM? DD1 would love it.

Off to the BL soon. I actually don't feel like it but Needs Must.

bigTillyMint · 01/10/2016 11:02

The Playhouse, appaz, MI!

Collymollypuff · 01/10/2016 11:29

Much better weather forecast for tomorrow, BTM! Yes, give us the playlist, Justme. Smile

CointreauVersial · 01/10/2016 11:38

Oof. What a week. Stinking cold, crazy busy job, stuff going on every evening (including sixth form open evenings for DD1 - waaahh - I barely have DS settled in and it's time for the next one!)....thank heavens it's the weekend. I'm not sure I can keep up with all the crepey action.

I did manage a wee social during the week, and met up with three friends in a local gastropub to celebrate the 50th of one of them. They are school mums from DS's Primary class, and our meet-ups are pretty sporadic nowadays, although back in the day we had a few crazy nights out (I may have mentioned the time I had to be fireman's-lifted out of a bar by the 18yo stepson of one of them, after a few too many cut-price cocktails Blush). Anyway, one of them divorced a lovely but dull chap a few years back, and is now being given the absolute runaround by her new man, to the point that we were almost yelling "LTB" as she told stories of multiple letdowns and general arse-ish behaviour towards her DCs. One is taking ADs to get her past her relationship breakdown, and the third one (happily married, generally considered very level-headed and capable) confessed that she had a breakdown a few months back, triggered by the death of her father and the departing-for-uni of her PFB.....I immediately thought of you crepeys and your empty nests.... Not quite the happy-go-lucky gang of a few years back. Sad

Contemplating doing a car boot sale tomorrow morning, if I can persuade DH....have a desperate need for more loft space and some cash. Never has a pay cheque been more welcome.

MontserratCaballe · 01/10/2016 11:42

Morning! Very impressed by the theatrical talk. I love a lot of Shakespeare but get to the theatre comparatively little now. I do see a lot of opera (in the very cheap seats - £20 or less a pop) but that tends to be it.

Sorry to hear about the MRIs, but hope that the results provide a way to treatment and feeling better.

Auriga, bonus on the invoice, esp as you have paid the tax so you are all in profit. Unlike solicitors to make payment so willingly so many years after the event.

Another shitty week here and feeling quite low and a bit tearful. Crem, I am sorry you are also under the cosh. BD, I was very cheered by your job application news and delighted to hear about Herbs, too. What an amazing opportunity and wonderful to be the only person interviewed. I can't see a way out of mine at the moment without retraining as a mediator (which would be quite easy given my background) and then being self employed (which would not be for me). I am not sure how good I would be at drumming up work, even though there is loads of mediation stuff about, apparently.

I walked through B Park yesterday in the sunshine and thought how beautiful it looked. Have a lovely time out there tomorrow. I am sorry not to be able to join you but am on child watch whilst DH completes his MAMIL mid life crisis cycle ride from Buck House to Windsor Castle. I am taking the children to Brixton for a Caffe Nero breakfast instead.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 01/10/2016 11:51

Auriga, thank you. Your post reminded me how much I wanted to see the David Baddiel show and I've just booked tickets - there weren't many left. Have you already seen it?

herbaceous · 01/10/2016 11:57

Morning crepesters.

I'd like to see that David Baddiel show. But on the other hand, it might make me cry uncontrollably and cause me to be stretchered out.

Talking of aged Ps, talked to mum the other day, and now she's off the morphine sounds exactly like her old self. Even going round to her friends. And driving, which is slightly alarming. Lots of pain, though, which paracetamol doesn't seem to be denting.

Another Saturday, another hangover. Karaoke last night was a total blast. I bloody LOVE karaoke. We had a little room to ourselves, with free Prosecco, and took it in turns to choose songs. My selections of 'Winner Takes it All', '9 to 5', 'Can't Help Falling in Love with You', and 'Nobody Does it Better', all went down a storm. I did grab the mic during the Kate Bush numbers also.

MontserratCaballe · 01/10/2016 12:18

Herbs I love karaoke too. Should we have a crepey karaoke night? >

herbaceous · 01/10/2016 12:25

That would be just fantastic. We could book a booth at Lucky Voice!

Auriga · 01/10/2016 12:46

We're going tonight, GGG, if I can recover from this migraine in time. Currently wrapping my head in the Guardian and sipping lemon tea.

Carpet now cleaned and spare bed set up in DM's room, nearly ready for change of use to a (generously sized) guest room. My DSis2 will stay in it next weekend, when we go away to sing viol consort songs. Some clothes and pictures still to be purged when I can face it.

Who else is doing Sober October, or whatever it's called? I'm in.
