Help me. SO bad at dressing for Winter/Autumn

In summer I'm a total babe. Can do smart and casual and always look nice. Autumn winter I am so crap, have such an awkward way of dressing nothing seems to quite work, I always look so wrong.

Please oh please oh please help me capsule wardrobe it for winter. Autumn I could technically do (ie now when it's not buggering freezing). But I'm talking like jumpers and boots type weather.

5'7, size eight, mega flat chested, blonde hair, Oliveish skin. My main problem is that I naturally look very scruffy which is fine in summer as it looks all lovely and boho but I just look like a mad person in winter.

What do you wear in summer? Can you not wear similar shapes but add tights and a jumper or cardigan/jacket, plus boots?

Dresses and cardigans, skirts and jumpers all with black tights and flat boots or brogues. Sorted.

Alternatively, skinny jeans, shirt, jumper or cardigans.

Play up the boho with some cowboy-style boots if you'd like. Get thee to pinterest, decide what you'd like (stay away from anything that looks like it needs ironing) and buy similar.
I can't do summer dressing at all, I hate having my legs out. Love the chance to get my tights back on.

This is all golden thank you. I think my problem is not knowing how to do shoes or tights. I wear quite floaty light coloured stuff in summer which I feel look a bit weird with opaques and boots? I also have massive feet so boots often look weird and masculine on me. Maybe finding the right ones is the answer?

Could you stick with the floaty shapes but just change your colour scheme a bit? There are some really pretty dresses around at the moment in dark florals that would look great with black opaques and boots and could be layered up when it gets colder. Sorry I'm just off to work so can't link but I've seen them in other threads from Warehouse and Zara and I'm sure they'll be in loads of other shops. I've been looking at them and feeling very as I don't suit that style any more so wear one for me.

And if you like boho there's a lot of velvet around too.

I love autumn/winter dressing and just can't do that sunkissed boho babe thing at all! My "uniform" is pretty much short-ish a-line skirt, fitted crew neck jumper, opaques and flat Chelsea boots, or high-waisted skinny jeans, blouse, and boots. I like a patterned skirt and a plain jumper mainly, and if I'm looking at dresses tend to buy plain and wear coloured tights, big jewellery or whatever so I can change up how they look.

I buy the Uniqlo heat-tech long-sleeved tops to layer under blouses, could you try those under some of your floaty things with jeans? Or even under dresses? I buy size S in them as a 10/12 to get them really close fitting so they don't spoil the line of the other stuff. M&S do a version too, but I can't remember what it's called. I also agree with Floisme that there are a lot of more floaty winter floral type things around this year which might suit. That boho style is NOT good on me so I can't point you to any specifics, but I do remember seeing dresses/skirts on the Hush website when I was poking around there, and I'm sure Oasis have some.

Another option might be plaited midi-skirts with a fitted jumper or top, and opaques? I have a Zara leopard print one which I plan to wear with a slightly cropped fitted turtleneck (just on the waistband of the skirt, not flashing stomach cropped) and either my beloved Chelsea boots or my black leather Stan Smiths and tights.

I saw that Zara one! Absolutely love, hope it's still in the shops am going to copy.

So I think what I need is to get a couple of slightly cropped, tight fitting tops/jumpers to work around my existing floaty skirts. Then a really good pair of boots to go with that don't make me look clodhoppered. Any suggestions for those? I find tops are always too long and look weird and crumpled with my other clothes.

That is ideal! Thank you! Now I need to just make sure I buy the right shapes and don't end up with something totally awkward looking! Also this with tights? Always think brown boots look weird with rights but maybe I'm wrong?

Am currently watching the weather like a hawk, waiting on the temperature to drop and so I can get my tights on!

With brown boots you could try black, brown or grey tights. If it were me, I think I'd try very dark brown opaques with the H&M outfit.

Have you looked at Mint Velvet? It's a bit pricy but floaty and light neutral coloured in cosy fabrics.

So gurus tell me what boots should I buy? Some low ones so that they don't look weird with skirts? What colour. I've been looking at leopard ones (I'm a leopard fanatic) but I know that is probably not very sensible...
