Gap kids clothes sizes

Want to buy a winter coat for DD from Gap. Am confused about their sizing though. She's turns 2 in three weeks, and have been wearing size18-24 months in Gap clothes for a while, but it's all very much on the small side now. The sizes they give us now '2 years' or '3 years' etc. Should I go for 2 years and expect this cost to lady her all winter, or go for 3 years already?

DS is tall for his age and has always had plenty of room in the Gap clothes that correspond to his age - so if your DD has just turned 2, buy a size 2.

I'm not sure about gap but I know with next that age 3 is 2-3 and age 4 is 3-4
