Smart dress and ankle boots for a night out?

I'm having a dilemma going to a smarty function in a private room of a pub this evening. I have a fit and flare type orange/red dress and I had planned on wearing open wedges with it.
Now the weather is so bad today that I'm going to freeze. It's meant to rain later on so I'm trying to work out if ankle boots (black and laced up) will work.
Over to the jury Smile

Any pictures?

Pic required, I think!
My gut reaction is no - I can't imagine lace up ankle boots looking right with a fancy dress. But a pic may prove otherwise.

Dress also has thin belt round middle.

The dress is lovely but I don't think the boots go, sorry.

Lots of shoes would though.

I like those style of boots. Not very partyish though. Just wondering if could change into the others when you arrive?

Runningupthathill82 · 17/09/2016 14:13

No, they won't go.

wintersdawn · 17/09/2016 14:30

Yeah I didn't think they'd go. Thanks for confirming it for me.

What are your other options?

wintersdawn · 17/09/2016 14:55

These two or I've got some other strappy heels. Think it'll be ballet shoes on the way and change there. It's about a 30 min walk from station to venue.

The Jimmy Choos. Definitely.

Runningupthathill82 · 17/09/2016 15:34

Yes! The Jimmy Choos. No question.
