I recently started swimming regularly. but I have dry and very curly hair which doesn't agree with chlorine. I have a pretty ancient rubber (I think) swimming cap which lets water in and is rubbing up my hair the wrong way.

Is there a really good swimming cap out there that may make a difference or are they all the same.

The spandex ones are much less hair-pully than the silicone/rubber ones. But neither will keep your hair very dry, in my experience...

was also wondering if conditioning my hair pretty swim, then cap on and having a quick wash after might be better then washing and conditioning after swimming??

I was swimming 4 x a week before holiday and hair was getting a bit dry. I started using a spandex swim hat because i was using a swim mp3 player to keep ear phones in. But also started using a aussie miracle leave in conditioner afterwards, which made a difference. Also friends use Argon oil before swimming which was i was going to try in future

Speedo do a long hair swimming cap, which has more capacity than others, and is easy to put on. Can't link from phone, but just google speedo long hair swimming cap and you'll find it.

I got a cheap XL one on Ebay. Not Speedo or anything. It doesn't keep water out completely, but does keep my hair out of the way.

Swimming caps don't keep your hair dry, they are designed to keep hair out of the way. The speedo long hair one is good, I have long thick hair and fit it all in.
I've heard conditioner before swimming can help, but never tried it, I swim about 4 times a week and use the Boots swim shampoo and conditioner and find them good for keep hair in ok condition.

Sorry to go off on a tangent.. are swimming caps supposed to go on wet or dry hair? I always used to put it on with wet hair but recently heard it goes on dry hair to keep it dry(ish)??!

I tried the wetting and conditioning and then cap on. Went for 1h into the pool and rinsed well afters and a quick wash with ultra swim. hair looks great now.
