What's the #1 thing you lust over but can't afford?

Made the mistake of spraying myself liberally with Tom Ford 'Neroli Portofino' in a department store yesterday.

Oh. My.

What's top of your 'really really want it but can't justify the price tag' list?

It gets so difficult with sales too trying to figure out whether to buy something or not. Last year I debated over buying a coat I'd fallen in love with, eventually bought it for the most money I've ever spent on an item of clothing. Only then saw it on sale in a different store a couple of months later for 60% off Angry

Things like Chanel handbags and louboutins never go on sale or lose value though so they're very good investments!

My unjustifiable item is a pair of canary yellow diamond Chanel earrings. Entirely pointless so could never talk myself into buying them but sooooooo beautiful!

TheInimitableMrsFanshawe · 13/09/2016 08:58

Well it was a Cartier Tank watch. Until I started actually browsing and now I lust after a very specific type of Cartier Tank Americaine watch. Starting at about £28,800 Shock

Balenciaga or YSL leather jacket
RIck Owens leather jacket
Iro leather jacket
YSL crossbody bag
Balenciaga City

ShotsFired · 13/09/2016 09:15

Personal trainer. I even know the person, she's ace.
(In theory I can afford it, I just can't justify it. Which amounts to the same hill of beans I think.)

NiteFlights · 13/09/2016 09:27

Margaret Howell!

Ohchristmastreeohchristmastree · 13/09/2016 09:32

Skin peels and lasers. If I had spare money I'd spend it on my face.

You should be one of my tenants...they just run rings round me. The chap at least asks. I'll visit the other lady ( rarely) and go , oh, you've changed the doors then?

Forgetting this is style and beauty, I'd love a static caravan with proper loo and shower in its own field. I'd make do with a static though...about £50,000

I don't lust after top end items. I am fortunate that I can buy what I want when I want .( within reason as we certainly aren't rich )..we just don't live a lifestyle that warrants them.

Right now I want to go to Venice.

ThanksForAllTheFish · 13/09/2016 09:43

Braces and jaw surgery to correct my underbite.

Dowser · 13/09/2016 09:48

Spice..if you can afford it and it will bring you joy...they are £60 ...get one.

You don't want to be on your deathbed regretting it do you.

If you haven't got the money, you could put a pound a week away and call it your lipstick of joy fund and by next October...it will be yours.

ElspethFlashman · 13/09/2016 10:17

The Carrier Tank Americaine is mine too.

Particularly the diamond one, which Jennifer Garner has (I think). Lucky cow!

Even the plain one will never ever happen. I think I need to search for a rip off version from a cheaper brand.

TheInimitableMrsFanshawe · 13/09/2016 11:17

This is the one I want.

ElspethFlashman · 13/09/2016 11:20

Wow.

mishmash1979 · 13/09/2016 11:24

Have the money in bank and saved/inherited for a Mulberry Bayswater in Oak but just can't actually hand over the £900. It seems too extravagant when I have 4 children to clothe and feed. Also on a bigger scale am lusting after a Lamd Rover discovery; one day maybe.......

twilightcafe · 13/09/2016 11:29

KoalaDownUnder - Perfume Parlour sell a dead ringer for Neroli Portofino in spray or perfume oil. It's also a fraction of the cost (and the scent lasts longer).

KoalaDownUnder · 13/09/2016 11:50

Ooh, thanks for the tip, twilight!

I don't know if this counts, but someone to come round and do my hair everyday. I really can't be arsed doing it myself. It's such a faff.

Also get clothes made for me especially trousers as I can't get my bloody big bum into most of them! Saying that, I don't know how much it would cost, but I would love it regardless.

Freezingwinter · 13/09/2016 12:14

I'd really like some designer ballet pumps. I had some jc ones years ago and wore them until they fell apart literally. They were so worth the money but I'd never spend that much now!

Spice22 · 13/09/2016 12:49

Downer - that's a great idea ! I'll put £1 away a week and treat myself when it finally adds up. That way I KNOW it was assigned for that iyswim

ThinkPinkStink · 13/09/2016 13:14

I yearned for a YSL Belle du Jour clutch, but could never quite justify it.

I am happy to spend £500 on a handbag I use regularly, but I'm not a regular clutch bag carrier (and rarely go 'out-out'). That having been said, just holding it made me feel like a rockstar.

thebagateur.wordpress.com/2013/11/10/celebs-that-carry-ysl-belle-du-jour-clutch/

I almost bought it several times, I've carried one from the stand to the till, before wimping out... and now it's discontinued (there is a newer version, which is nice, but not the same).

My message his this... if you can afford it, if the only thing stopping you from getting the thing you want is not feeling like you 'deserve' it, or can 'justify' it - just go out and buy it. Right now.

ElspethFlashman · 13/09/2016 14:02

Another tip about perfume - there are websites like The Perfumed Court which decant into various sample sizes.

Bloody handy if you don't have the funds to commit to a full size.

Good way of trying iconic things you've heard of too - like Chanel No 5 etc etc.

Ifonlyiweretaller · 13/09/2016 14:38

I'm with you Thinkpink...i bought the Belle du Jour in nude, from a charity website, and paid just over £300 for it. Needed it (yeah right...)for a wedding, and I feel fab whenever i carry it!

Umlauf · 13/09/2016 14:59

A house..

But S&B it would probably be plastic surgery. I'd love slightly smaller boobs, no more lovehandles, liposuction on my hips and a tummy tuck.

I tell myself I am just comfortable in my own body but if I had the money (and had bought the house) I'd definitely consider it much more closely.

A burberry trench coat.

Destinysdaughter · 13/09/2016 16:02

Some great ideas here!

I'd like smaller boobs
A personal nutritionist and cook
Clothes designed and made for me that flattered my boobs
Hand made boots
A king size 4 poster bed
A personal masseur ( bad back )

( don't want much really..!) 😀😱💃

Destinysdaughter · 13/09/2016 16:04

I have a Burberry trench coat that was my mum's. Don't know if it's still fashionable. Maybe I should put a pic of it on here. Not my style ( boobs again!)

pasturesgreen · 13/09/2016 16:17

I have two: Omega Ladymatic watch and Kiki McDonough amethyst and diamond earrings.

I've started to save up for the latter and should be there in a year or two!

Don't think I'll ever bring myself to get the watch, even if I could afford it, as I have a perfectly functional one that was a very cherished present from my parents, and I'm loathe to actually go out and replace. Window shopping it is for the moment!
