End of summer/autumn shoes, help!

I've been on the look out for something for a while now, in between shoes it's not quite cold enough for boots, and even trainers on some days but too cold or wet for sandals.

I'm mostly walking the school run a mile each way so ballet flats are not substantial enough. I bough a pair of brogues (fantastic bargain from Debenhams), but I can't seem to style them quite right so I think they are going back. Preferably I need some sort of strap to keep them on my feet.

Watching with interest, I always struggle with footwear at this time of year, and have been known to go straight from sandals to boots because I haven't been able to find shoes.

Guess we're the only ones! Currently eyeing up another pair of boots instead.

You aren't the only ones, but really shoes fall into the categories of sandals, ballet pumps, courts/heels, trainers, brogues or loafers, ankle boots and boots. If you don't want ballet pumps and can't style the brogues am not sure what to suggest.

Maybe slip on trainers like Vans or similar? I'm wearing trainers at the moment (Nike and Adidas Superstars), tan brogues with rolled up or cropped jeans, and canvas Converse lowtops or Vans. As soon as next week is over with the hot weather my ankle boots are coming out.

What do you want to wear them with? If jeans, then I'd say that leather Converse or some trainers would be the most comfortable. Nike Roshe are quite breathable.

Leather converse. They're fairly waterproof and a bit wider than the canvas ones as they give a little. I just bought a pair during the week as was having the same problem
