This is a good dress for me, right?

I posted a potential purchase a few weeks ago and y'all hated it. And you were right so thanks for stopping me wasting my money Flowers Grin

Have found this and really like it.

Shape: I'm a size 10-12 hourglass-ish (have belly but nothing that can't be tamed with some control knickers). I really suit v necklines (good, not too massive norks) and skater style skirts.

Colour: I'm cool toned, quite pale with salt/pepper mostly silver hair. Wear mostly black but trying to buy more colour.

Would wear with opaques and black heeled ankle boots. Love a bit of velvet and it must be in this year as it's popping up everywhere I look.

It depends on the fabric. I think this dress could really suit you in theory as the colours and cut are right, but my fear is that the fabric will be really thin, cheap and nasty.
Do you think you could you buy it, try it on and post a pic?

KARMAisaBtch · 09/09/2016 22:52

Sorry, not for me. It looks cheap Grin

happyinherts · 09/09/2016 22:52

I absolutely love that dress. Thanks for sharing :)

NotTodaySatan · 09/09/2016 22:54

No worries happy Smile.

Have just bought it. Will see how it looks on.

Not particularly bothered about it looking "cheap" as I buy a lot of dresses from New Look and have no issues with the quality at all.

I think it looks cheap and if the only thing that saves it from being frumpy is the length.

LolaStarr · 09/09/2016 22:59

I like it, exactly the sort of thing I would wear Smile

EnidButton · 09/09/2016 23:00

I'm a size 10, hourglass and that shape would suit me perfectly.

EnidButton · 09/09/2016 23:01

Just out of curiosity, in what way does it "look cheap"?

EnidButton · 09/09/2016 23:15

Just having a look and there is a lot of velvet around at the moment. Love a bit of velvet. Realised that the 'look cheap' was probably because the fabric might be a bit thin for velvet but you'll know better when you try it on. I think it'll look good on your shape.

emilybrontescorset · 10/09/2016 07:30

I like it.

DianaT1969 · 10/09/2016 07:41

Glad it's New Look. I'm boycotting Philip Green stores (Dorothy Perkins, Top Shop, Miss Selfridge and Wallis). I never bought anything in Wallis or Miss S anyway, but quite miss DP and Top Shop. Thank goodness for H&M or I wouldn't have anywhere for basics.

I think it will cling and you can find better TBH
Asos or Missguided?

Monochromecat · 10/09/2016 07:49

Love it! Might just get it myself 😊

GinAndOnIt · 10/09/2016 08:38

That dress is absolutely gorgeous. Wish I could wear that colour so I could buy it myself!

albertcampionscat · 10/09/2016 08:42

Looks cheap in first pic, but that might be because they've put the model in a daft sex kitteny pose. Looks lovely in the others.

Dowser · 10/09/2016 10:10

Does look better in other poses.

Floisme · 10/09/2016 11:17

I think that's really pretty and I love the colours. Only reservation is that cheap velvet can look very shiny but you can't really tell until you've seen t for real. Fingers crossed.

(Agree about Philip Green Diana.)

TSSDNCOP · 10/09/2016 11:44

Nice shape, horrid fabric.

sausagefest · 10/09/2016 11:59

Lovely. You're figure sounds great too. I reckon you'll look great in that.

Vintagegirl1 · 10/09/2016 13:01

I love it! Might go and try it on this week. Was looking at a dark green velvet one in new look but was put off when I saw a stunning teenager pick it up (am 41)
