Can anybody recommend me a moisturiser for greasy skin?

My skin is also sensitive. And it used to get very tight when I used standard cleansers. Now I use e45 emollient cleanser, which has really settled the sensitivity and dry tightness, but I am left with greasy skin, and looks horribly shiny all over. Foundation and powder last no time at all, it slides straight off.

Budget is not high... £5ish, £10 max.

Try the oil cleansing method, very balancing. Google it.

I have been just using water on my face in the mornings instead of cleanser and not using moisturiser. My skin is much less greasy. I double cleanse and use a night cream in the evening.

I'm a make-up artist and I highly recommend using something to cleanse your skin as water alone won't remove all the excess oil and residue that can build up overnight (as well as dead skin cells!)

Use a flannel and a gentle cream cleanser, massage it in and remove with the flannel,avoid anything with foam as this literally does strip the skin and oily skin does still need some moisture, if you remove too much oil it only makes it go into overload! The damp flannel will give light exfoliation for your sensitive skin and help any other products sink in better and your make-up sit better! I really like the Bodyshop Seaweed range for oily skin clients although it's a little over budget you can usually get a good deal on buying the set of products! Boots Botanics is also fab for the price point.

PS is the oilyness because of using e45 or was your skin also quite greasy beforehand? If so have a look at balancing products, bodyshop seaweed is quite balancing or try the simple range which is affordable and very kind to sensitive skins.

Thank you. I think my skin is oily generally. And like you said, when I used a foaming cleanser, my skin felt stripped...so it was drinking up moisturiser but also more oily at the same time (if that makes sense). The e45 emollient really feels like it has calmed things down but I am left with oily skin. My foundation just slips off in no time, and my whole face looks so shiny.

The e45 might have not helped the oilyness tbh. But did calm down the sensitivity and and the tight dryness, which was progress at least. I will look at those ranges you have suggested, they do sound like they would suit me. It's difficult having skin that is a bit of everything (oily, dry and sensitivite )!

I've got a lovely moisturiser from the body shop for greasy skin - it's the seaweed one. Don't think it's overly expensive - I also use the face wash and toner prior to using the moisturiser

Really strangely, someone suggested using an oily serum at night would help oily skin. I tried ESPA's serum and my skin is noticeably less oily during the day. Liz Earle's hot cloth cleanser is brilliant for my oily skin as it leaves it clean without feeling tight, and her oily skin moisturiser is lovely for day. Makeup sits well on it, too.

If you have noticeable pores (which can be common with oily skin) Estee Lauder does a pore refiner in a green bottle that is amazing.

You'd think it was really moisturising but it's extremely light and great for oily skin.

I double cleanse with superdrug hot cloth cleanser in the green tube, and a tiny amount of Simple moisturiser which is a light liquid on my cheeks. Both cheap as chips. I don't like gel moisturisers which are often recommended for oily skin as they feel sticky. I don't moisturise t zone as it self lubricates!

I am not having much luck though! Superdrug is out of stock of the hot cloth cleanser, and I cannot find it elsewhere. Boots Botanics don't have any of their "ultra calm" or "shine away" ranges (which are the ones I thought would suit me), and I cannot find it elsewhere online.

Body shop have the toner and moisturiser in stock, but not the face cleanser. I want to buy all together to save on postage (will be free if I spend over £25), so that's no good either - for now at least.

Argh, bloody, Argh! I suppose I should really get off the computer and actually go in a shop, but I really do hate shopping.

I use simple clear skin oil control moisturiser. Can't live without it.
