www.joebrowns.co.uk

Catalogue keeps arriving for the previous owners who moved out over 2 years ago Hmm

Had a browse today. God it's hideous. I mean i'm not exactly fashion forward but who wears this stuff?

OP posts:
BallerinaBecky · 05/09/2016 21:04

For me boho means stylish like Kate Moss or Ashley Olson. NOT Joe Browne!

SoleBizzz · 05/09/2016 21:16

I can't afford Kate Moss clothing. Unless you want to buy them for me Dear..

123therearenomoreusernames · 05/09/2016 21:18

For me it would be more Sienna Miller but then I think it's hard to define it by one person. Just as one person could a wear a dress and accessorise it successfully and get the "look" right and the next person could get it all " wrong".

Surely this is the same for all stores though.

SinglePringle · 05/09/2016 21:18

Not my taste at all. Think it's all rather shapeless and drab.

EverySongbirdSays · 05/09/2016 21:21

My ENTIRE wardrobe has consisted of Joe Browns for roughly the last decade, including my coats, I have trouble getting things to fit, and they always do, so fuck you very much indeed

((((Sole)))) Same taste I knew we were MN BFF for a reason.

AppleJac · 05/09/2016 21:22

I love it!

However the quality has gone right down hill and the last lot of stuff i bought had to be sent back which has put me off doing another order with them

frikadela01 · 05/09/2016 21:26

I love the look of Joe browns stuff. I was flicking through the catalogue at mil yesterday and there's some gorgeous coats and boots in there.
Although my mil thinks I'm too young to wear anything from there (I'm 30)

SoleBizzz · 05/09/2016 21:27

Every ☺ naturally! My BFF 4 evaa x

I like some Joe Brown's. Is that a crime?

blamethecat · 05/09/2016 21:28

I had a coat for Christmas last year, it was gorgeous, got loads of compliments, after less than a month the seam under the arm had come undone and was frayed. Returned it and got a refundand I haven't had a replacement present yet I like a few bits but don't trust the quality now.

MephistoMarley · 05/09/2016 21:29

Me, I love joe Browns. Much of it is overly twee and frilly but I have some lovely tunics and dresses and I have a fab Mac I got in the summer sale last year for £35 which gets so many compliments and still looks new.

CharminglyGawky · 05/09/2016 21:32

I used to love joe browns, I had a lovely dress/tunic that I wore for about 5 years! I have been very disappointed with my last few orders though, the fit is a bit odd and on one top the quality was shit.

There are normally at least 3-4 items I want from each catalogue though, I have a few really lovely summer dresses from them.

MollHackabout · 05/09/2016 21:56

I bought a JB Ultimate military coat from one of those catalogue shops last year. It was reduced from £99 to £8 because its buttons were missing. When I got it home, I found the buttons in the pocket. Bargain of the century Grin

I love JB, by the way.

SasherinSuite · 05/09/2016 22:09

Looks like we're in the minority third time. I can see why the former owner didn't bother giving their new address. The colours and patterns are so...distinctive. It's just very twee. The men's stuff is hideous.

SoleBizzz · 05/09/2016 22:17

What clothing brand do you wear OP? So we can sneer .

Jaimx86 · 05/09/2016 22:21

Never heard of it, and most of the items aren't to my taste (lovely but wouldn't dare to wear them) but they have some wonderful looking coats on there.

BirdyBedtime · 06/09/2016 08:29

I agree that about 3/4 of the stuff is beyond hideous - the lace/patchwork/asymmetric hem look. BUT actually if you see past that there are some really nice things - some of the patterned dresses are perfect for work (DD commented when the current brochure came through that now she knows where Teacher X buys all her clothes from!).

I've had a few nice tunics too with just a tiny pattern around the hem or similar and I find the quality fine for the price.

I'm eyeing up the red and blue checked coat in the current brochure Wink

NattyGolfJerkin · 06/09/2016 08:33

It doesn't appeal to me either. OP. Too fussy and the fabric compositions always looked heinous (that could have improved in recent years, I've not looked at their stock for a good 5 years).

TheDropBear · 06/09/2016 08:38

I love some of their stuff but like others have said often the quality isn't great so usually only buy from the sale.

LittleCandle · 06/09/2016 08:40

I love Joe Browns and live in it when I can. Not everything is to my taste and I have found this year that you are often better to go up a size, as the sizes have become skimpier. It is quirky and often you find older ladies prefer it.

0hCrepe · 06/09/2016 08:46

Generally it's too fussy for me but I have an oriental patch work coat that everyone loves and stops me in the street to ask about and a hoody with an oriental design which I really like. Other than that there's too much going on with the ribbons and ruffles etc

Not a tunic wearer so not my style.

awfulpersonme · 06/09/2016 09:51

I don't think it's twee at all. Cath Kidston (which I love) is twee. Joe Browns is more hippy art teacher.

I like some of their stuff.

leccybill · 06/09/2016 09:59

I thought tunics were dead in the water anyway. I've just threw a load out.
