Catalogue keeps arriving for the previous owners who moved out over 2 years ago

Had a browse today. God it's hideous. I mean i'm not exactly fashion forward but who wears this stuff?

It's proper shit.

I bought a coat from there before, put my hands in the pockets and my hands went straight through the lining.

Shocking quality.

It's not my style really although I did get a lovely maxi dress last year from them.

Everyone is different though and there is a Boho chic to some of their stuff.

There isn't a single thing in a lot of stores on the high street that I would wear either. Certainly Boden is overpriced but ok for work basics.

I can't think of a single shop at the minute that I could walk into and think "Oh I love the stuff in here!"

Funny to see this thread resurrected from 2016 as at that time I loved Joe Browns clothing . Don't know whether it's them or me that's changed but nowadays I find it too fussy - patterned and frilly .

Going to give JB a try very soon. Agree they seem fixated on tunics, crochet patchworky and paisley patterns but ive seen a floral top which looks pretty.

I recieve the catalogue occasionally, and always feel like its almost a style I would wear but there is usually too much going on with the clothes. I prefer a more subtle quirkiness.
Also, ordered a few items and sent them all back as the fabric was see-through thin and the seams were shoddy.

Personally I think it's bloody awful.

I have a colleague who lives the stuff. I'm sure she thinks I'm rude not to gush over get hideous purchases, but I just can't.

I used to get a catalogue and found it fascinating yet grotesque.

Joe Brown isn't to my taste, too busy and patterny & applique & stuff attached to the clothes for me. But if you like that sort of thing, then that is the sort of thing you like.

Never said there was MollHackabout, just pointing out the clothes definitely have that look about them.

I also find the clothing store Joy has a similar vibe at times but there current collection less so.

I like all that patchworkery and have a dress that's very flattering. However, I guess at 54 I'm entitled to like stuff aimed at oldies!

I have a JB jacket that has lost a couple of buttons...but love that all the buttons are different o I I were to loose one I could just put any old one one

Buttons sewn on by machine, whatever the make, are never as well put on as hand sewn ones. It takes 2 minutes to give them a quick stitch if they are slightly loose.

I bought a JB Ultimate military coat from one of those catalogue shops last year. It was reduced from £99 to £8 because its buttons were missing. When I got it home, I found the buttons in the pocket. Bargain of the century

That reminds me of a coat I bought last year (had already bought a JB coat and thought I couldn't justify another)..it was greatly reduced and I noticed what looked like a gap in the seam...It was the last one so they gave me another discount.

Got home and realised it was where the pocket was...I was mortified

I love (almost) all their stuff. Some of the stuff is a bit too frilly for me but I love the colours and designs.

I'm waiting on three tops to arrive and I am debating a tunic I like....The coats are gorgeous, much better than the drab stuff usually around.

I have to say though the 'cut' of some stuff is a bit off.

I bought a coat from there a few years back and the thread on the lining was so thin that the seams split in the pockets within hours of use and within those few hours, the buttons fell off too.

They gave me a refund but I remember being really shocked by the poor quality.

Now that I am older and fatter I find I prefer my tops longer and tunics are just the job! I also work in a shop where we promote the clothes we sell by wearing them, so I am able to indulge my Joe Browns passion!
