I'm fat and hideous - what would suit me?

I'm struggling with my weight and none of my clothes fit. I don't really have a budget for clothes but saw this dress in the DP sale and thought it might do for autumn. I could weep. I look so awful. I am officially old and fat and frumpy.

Any ideas as to what I should wear? What would suit my hideous shape? Ideally I would like to get back to how I was but I think I'm stuck being big now and need cheap replacements for practically everything apart from pyjamasSad

Any help or suggestions would be great. I just feel a bit yuk and not myself.

I'd be very happy if I could look like that in a dress! You look great, stop worrying!

Just a quick update the dress has gone back. But I have found some John lewis vouchers I forgot I had and I noticed hush have started selling there. Wonder if any of those dresses would suit?!

I have also looked up body dysmorphia (thanks to the poster who mentioned it) and I do have the depression, anxiety disorder and yes I dont like what I see in the mirror but I'm not sure I fit the rest of the profile.

Op, make an appointment with the John Lewis personal shopper if you have vouchers, they are hugely helpful and you will leave with something you love. It's free. Book online. You will not feel fat or hideous you will feel good.

You are not fat or hideous in the least!

I've had one bad experience with the JL shopper who picked out lovely looking but inappropriate things - eg a silk blouse at 100 quid or so while I was still breastfeeding my 12 week old. I'm at home all the time so don't need anything too 'formal'.
I'm getting quite desperate so I might have a look to see what slots they have available. Guessing the staff may have changed since then!

I don't think you have body dysmorphia, you're just really self critical. Try speaking more kindly to yourself (I actually am fat and I know you wouldn't speak to me that way)

I would also try primark, h and m and Zara (be warned all come up as small sizes so don't focus on the number on the label)
