When is it "acceptable" to wear skirts and tights?

I love Autumn clothes so I'm chomping at the bit to start wearing them.
I've bought some lovely A line skirts and want to wear them today but my OH says I will look ridiculous as its still summer.
Well out of my window it's raining and miserable but if it gets sunny later I might look like a idiot.
Should I wait till October?
I was going to wear a tan a line skirt with a thin black cut out jumper (which I love ) but maybe it's too dressy for the day (il add a pic)
Opinions ?

BTW - I think that skirt would also look great with a white tee shirt.

Ended up wearing it ..actually had to add my leather jacket as I was cold.
North east weather is rubbish.
Was so excited to wear my new skirt ..I left the price tag on ha ha oops

I've been standing on a cold, wet football field all day. It is definitely not too warm for tights.

I plan on wearing opaques, dress and cardi to work tomorrow. It feelis like summer is over.

I live in Scotland. I can wear tights almost every day of the year.

I'm freezing today in jeans and linen top and had to borrow my husbands hoodie, but due to self imposed rules, I won't don tights until later in the month/October.
Having said that I've seen ppl in wool coats and sheepskin boots in the last week. In my head I was totally judgy about them and thought they looked bonkers. It wasn't even that cold.
