Can I wear a red dress to a wedding?

I've ordered a red dress to a wedding I'm going to next month and I shown a family member today who said you're not supposed to wear red to weddings as its bad luck?

Apparently I can wear it to the night part but to the daytime it's a bit of a no no
I didn't know this Confused

They also have it available in nude or a sage green, would I be best ordering one of those colours instead?
Is this 'rule' widely known?

It's bad manners to wear black or white/cream to a wedding, but I've never heard of any problems with red.

Could it be a regional/local thing?

I thought red was a good luck colour? My own wedding dress was red.

All these rules about what women can and can’t wear to weddings is ridiculous in my view and I never see it in real life, only on mn. I wouldn’t wear a white dress and I wouldn’t dress in a sombre funereal black outfit but apart from that, any colour goes. I’m sure no one would bat an eyelid at a red dress

Red and white in flowers isn't good because of the association with death, didn't know it was 'blood and bandages' but that makes sense. Unless you are shagging the bridegroom and plan to announce it at the ceremony a red dress is fine.

I knew green was suppose to be bad luck but only because my Mum's bridesmaid had a green dress which raised a few eyebrows apparently. That was 50 years ago though.

My wedding dress was dark red (so we're my flowers) and I always wear red to weddings as it's the colour I feel and look best in. Wear what you like except a long white dress

I wore red to a wedding. I was the bride.

I’ve heard about not wearing green, had no idea why though. Never heard anything about red. Go for it!

Red is fine especially to a winter wedding. My DD wore a red dress last winter and looked fantastic. Lipstick to match! Most of the other guests were dowdy in black! I think you should avoid black or white.

Red polka dots? Fancy dress really.
