Which primer for dry, mature skin?

I've never really got to grips with make up. Can anyone recommend a primer to go under Estée Lauder double wear foundation - do I need matte or illuminating?

I'm absolutely not an expert, but I love Benefit Porefessional. I wear EL Doublewear too.

I use Youngblood mineral primer and very happy with it.

I have a Mac one I like but I hear good things about Maybelline.
