Trainers for yr7 - I am clueless!

I consider myself pretty aware of what's hip and what's passé, however, I realise I am completely out of the loop with tween fashion (despite having 2 in this age range).

Trainers for DD, going into yr 7. Want nice ones - not the top of the range but certainly not ones that are considered rubbish amongst the yoofs.

Please help!

Watching with interest. I have the same dilemma. Somehow the Clarks ones don't seem right and it's a million years since I went to school PE with my Dunlop Green Flash :)

Sketchers seem pretty popular amongst my dd and her friends (she is going into yr 6)

Last season's New Balance here - from Amazon. Usually about £25 max. Saw Sports Direct have Kappa at £14 yesterday though - would have got a pair if we still needed them.

DD1 (year 11 in Sept) has £12.99 trainers from shoe zone as I gave up buying more expensive ones when 2 pairs got lost early on (along with the rest of the PE kit).
DD2 (year 8 in Sept) has some Karrimor ones from Sports Direct that cost under £30. She bought herself £80 Nike trainers from saved money but those are worn at home.
I think I am lucky that the brand of trainers you wear for PE is not an issue at their school.
If it is an issue at yours then DD2 would say Nike.

Not sketchers - seriously naff for me in my forties let alone secondary school age. Honestly I've only ever bought mine Addidas or Nike, all their friends have the same most other brands aren't cool for this age group. In year 7 they're probably in junior sizes, wait till your 13 year old wears a mans size 12 the prices are mega high then.

I'd take her to somewhere like sports direct (I know, ethics). I wouldn't go clarks tbh. Trend wise a brand is normally seen as better...

I don't think you can go wrong with Nike or Adidas from Sports Direct.

Are these for PE?

I'd go to sports direct & get whatever brand fits (Nike are good for Ds as he has barrow feet for example. )

For fashion wear dd loves her sketchers.

Home or school?

Adidas Superstars are considered cool for home.

Nike or Adidas are cool enough for school.( Sports Direct do them in at all sorts of price points)

If you are anywhere near Hatfield the Nike outlet store in the galleria is great. Got 30% off a £35 pair which were £50 in sports direct so a happy year 8 dd. She had tesco's last year and by xmas was telling me it was too embarrassing to wear them.

Look on eBay for Nike roche, or Nike free runs. I used to see lots of children in my old neighbourhood wearing them. Hope this helps!

Adidas super stars are apparently the ONLY possible option but they are not cheap - especially when your DD insists on the special edition (so you insist they use their own money)

Nike mainly here, though no specific style. Quite a few kids wear funky coloured Karrimor. DD got her Nikes from TKMaxx.

God no no no to sketchers! That would be style suicide for teens round here.

Adidas or Nike here (DS's year 11 and year 7) it is a little more complicated however as PE trainers must be '"predominantly white" and this usually means all white with a flash of colour.

If I where you I'd double check there are no similar limitations on what they can wear.

Got a pair of Nikes, really pleased. Item 2 of a list of 5 ticked off! (Shoes still needed though...)
