Please recommend me a mascara

I have tried countless mascaras, ALL of which end up smudged and giving me panda eyes - even though I only wear it on my top lashes, never on the bottom. Waterproof or not, they've all done it!

Please, please can someone recommend me a magical mascara that doesn't make me look like a raccoon by the end of the day?! I don't want to spend loads, but I'm willing to try anything.

Clarins wonderperfect

I can't wear waterproof mascara as it makes my eyes itch - though I think this has more to do with trying to scrub it off.

Best mascaras I have used for avoiding panda eyes:

Expensive: Estee Lauder Sumptuous Volume

Drugstore: Loreal Million Lashes (can get this in waterproof)

I'm exactly the same.

In the past I've had some luck with waterproof max factor or maybelline mascaras but recently they've let me down. I tried no7 stay perfect and hated it!

Currently using Clinique waterproof mascara which is good. John lewis have a gift with purchase too :-)

I think you might have oily lids. I do and waterproof is no good it has to be smudge proof. EL Doublewear mascara volume and lengthening (I think it is called) is great.

Loreal Million Lashes is absolutely the best and I have tried loads! Not smudgey or flaky. Hated Maybelline, Chanel, Clinique, Benefit and most recently Charlotte Tilbury. I go back to Million Lashes every time its ace.

Bobbi Brown Smoky Eye is a lovely mascara.

Maybelline Lash Sensational

And this is coming from someone who owned about 20 mascaras at one point. Maybelline Lash Sensational is the only one I've ever repurchased.

I asked this very forum the same question and the collective wisdom made me buy the Boots No.7 Stay Perfect - it's a gold tube and it costs £12.

It's a tubing mascara (look it up) and it quite literally does stay perfect.

Now if I could only find a waterproof one as good.... Hmm

AnotherDayInParadiseLost · 24/08/2016 14:19

I love tubing mascara - Blinc is the original and is fab for sensitive eyes and allergies.
I can wear tubing mascara every day which I can't with normal stuff.

healthyobsessions · 24/08/2016 14:22

The best mascara I have tried so far is NO.7 Extreme Length Extend from Boots. It's so so good and stays on all day, no clumps, separates individual lashes and doesn't run (or takes an awful lot to run)

LMGTFY · 24/08/2016 14:32

I love benefit as I have naturally very short and straight lashes and it doesn't come off (no matter what I scrub with, but that's another issue!), however I find it clumps the lashes together, especially when new. I found all EL ones to smudge and have yet to find another that gives me any definition.

BringMeTea · 24/08/2016 15:25

Another vote for No7 Stay perfect. All mascara except tubing smudges on me. This includes those not supposed to, e.g. Bobbi Brown No Smudge. Shite it was.

Estee Lauder double wear also good but Boots' cheaper and glossier I find.

BoudicasBoudoir · 24/08/2016 15:40

Clinque High Impact Curling Mascara is the only one I've found that doesn't give me panda eyes. Great Lash, waterproof ones, various others, all make me look a bit goth by the end of the day.

However - it's not actually High Impact, quite Low Impact in fact. But I'm not a glam woman and it certainly looks better than my pale blonde cow-lashes. And it doesn't smudge.

IAmTheBFG · 24/08/2016 16:21

I like Urban Decay Perversion mascara as it doesn't flake or smudge but makes your eyelashes look thick and slightly curled

streem26 · 24/08/2016 16:33

Clinique Naturally Glossy, and MAC Pro Lash

Knackerednursey · 24/08/2016 21:58

I had this problem with any mascara until I bought Urban decay eye primer. Use it on my lids and no more smudging! I have oily skin though.

Tubing mascara is the way to go - no smudging, no flaking, no irritability, and comes off easily with warm water. Been using L'Oreal Paris Double Extension Beauty Tubes for a couple of years. And, on the rare occasion that I don't remove it at night, my eyes do not feel rubbish the next day.

Careless Whisper - are you me? I swear by Max Factor Masterpiece and I obviously love the same man you do....
