D m boots

Never had d m boots but always wanted them. Are they comfy?
Seen cheaper ones on Amazon can I trust them or try on first.
Love the cherry red are they very bright?

I bought DD2 a pair from Amazon last year and they are brilliant. If I recall correctly they were about £65 rather than the £90 charged by other retailers.

If you fancy a trip then they have a factory shop in Northamptonshire which is supposed to be brilliant.

I just ordered my dm Chelsea boots off Amazon. Really pleased with them. I'd size down if in doubt (I'm between a 4 and 5 so got the 4 and they are perfect). They take a bit of breaking in but are comfy and last forever once they are broken in.

I've worn them for decades. Size down, they come up big. Also, I've heard rumours that the ones sold on Amazon, are made especially for Amazon, but never known anyone to have any problems with quality

Is the factory shop supposed to be discounted?
Is it easy to return to Amazon?

DM's are comfy .......once broken in. Wear thick socks, and persevere with them. Once they are moulded to your foot shape (or foot shaped to your boot) they last years :)

I don't know if I should go for cherry red or black. Think will wear black more as get fed up of red everyday.

They are the comfiest shoes ever. Black can get very dreary though.

I have brick red and they're quite bright. Cherry would be brighter again so I'd err for black myself.

Definitely size down, I'm a half size and going down rather than up has always been perfect for me. They are indeed a bugger to break in but once you do so comfy. Mine never last years though, year and a half tops but I'm heavy on my feet and walk loads.

Or maybe cherry wouldn't be brighter? Sorry have dizziness from sinus pain so thought processes aren't working too well today.

Red does go with a lot of stuff. I don't like wearing black shoes with browns in my clothes so red goes with it and also black clothes to to brighten them up

I wear DMs most of the time, I wouldn't size down though, my usual size fits perfect

I have the darker red, whatever they call it, it's a good mellow autumn colour. Goes with everything.

I have just bought a cherry red pair. They are more what I would call ox blood. I'll see if I can find a link. They are not bright and are a great alternative to black.

No good asking me for the 'correct' answer. I use Vaseline

I'm in the process of breaking in 2 pairs and I already love them. I ordered off Amazon without trying on, got my usual size and they fit fine.

I have the Chelsea boots.
They were a gift from DH and are indestructible.
Which is a shame as I look like a bricklayer in them.

Mine are brighter than that. I use nothing on mine, prefer the scuffed look as did the assistant in the DM shop I was talking to.

What's this "balm" you speak of? I'm contemplating a pair for winter, but am off put by the hassle of breaking them in.

It's helps to soften them and protects the leather.

It helps to have something to help the leather bend and to prevent the crease across the instep that sometimes develops, which can be uncomfortable. I'm not so fussed about scuffing.

I think the official name for the branded stuff might be balsalm.

The Nappa leather does not require breaking in. Comfortable and such a joy from the get go. But the smooth leather...be ready for painful feet. However, once broken in, they're the best.
