have you ever fixed a squeaky shoe?

I have some patent leather loafers. I love them. They are very comfortable and a pretty colour. They squeak. Is there any way to fix a squeak?

I've had success sprinkling some talcum powder inside the shoe.

I'll try this, but how did you know the squeak was coming from inside? I think my squeak might be coming from somewhere on the outside.
