Benefit Porefessional

I've tried it many times, as well as other primers and I literally don't see a difference in the way my makeup goes on, at all.

My pores are still visible, and my makeup looks the same - as if I haven't put anything under it at all?

Am I applying it too thinly, or is it really just utter shit?

I've seen it raved about, but I just don't 'get' it.

Nah tried it too and it's no good. Laura mercier primers are great.

Kirriemuir · 19/08/2016 20:48

It made my skin look chalky. Not keen on Laura Mercier either. Still on the hunt for the one.

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 19/08/2016 20:49

Sephora own brand primer is the only one that I have liked so far.

JDSTER · 19/08/2016 22:23

I like it personally. I use it every day and it just seems to make my foundation look better. I think it's a bit trial and error with primers. I've tried a few that didn't work for me. Have a look on makeup alley for primer reviews or Boots website

Cakescakescakes · 19/08/2016 22:30

I prefer Smashbox primers. Esp the light one.

piknmixer · 19/08/2016 23:17

I love it personally and even more so after I bought an unopened, boxed full size tube from a charity shop for a quid the other week

It does make my make up sit better, improves my pores and my make up lasts longer.

hollieberrie · 20/08/2016 00:36

Lanacane anti-chafing gel. Its a tip i picked up on here and it works really well. I have fairly oily skin and its great - better than smashbox for me and a fraction of the price.

RobberBride · 20/08/2016 07:49

I've tried everything low end (from Lanacane) up to mid end (up to No 7, Bare Minerals and Smashbox). I try them scientifically-ish, only putting them on half of my face. Some of them do help with pores, but tbh a good serum underneath my moisturiser seems to do just as good a job and is one less step! The only one that made even a bit of difference to staying power was Bodyshop Instablur, but not enough to be noticeable. The best trick I picked up was the Wayne Goss one - put some translucent powder on before foundation and it reduces oilyness and improves staying power. But I am very oily, so maybe I'm just beyond the help of primers?!

hollieberrie · 20/08/2016 08:35

Robber I do that too - WG tip - it helps . I use Corn Silk.
Have you tried not moisturising in the morning? This made a big difference for me. I just cleanse, then powder, primer, powder, foundation, powder, fixing spray.

RobberBride · 20/08/2016 19:53

Hollie funny you should say that - yesterday I tried just wearing Cityblock 25 over serum with powder on top, and was a lot less shiny! But I worry I need more spf...?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/08/2016 20:24

I really like it but think it's v overpriced for such a tiny tube, so have stopped buying. Haven't found anything to replace it with yet though.

sophiestew · 20/08/2016 21:02

I use it and love it, I can see a visible difference in the appearance of my pores, especially the ones on my nose, immediately.

I agree different products work for different folks though. I know people rave about touche eclat and it doesn't work on me at all......

43percentburnt · 20/08/2016 21:05

I quite like it. However my fave is the Avon one in a white tube far better than the others I've tried. It's lovely - shame my Avon lady stopped coming.

www.avon.uk.com/product/301-317-427-1046/make-up/face/primer/avon-magix-face-perfector

They sell it online - I have no idea why I didn't think to check! The packaging is slightly different since I last used it but the reviews seem good.

leccybill · 20/08/2016 21:14

The Avon one does look quite good.
I can't get on with Porefessional either, although I'm the same with lots of Benefit products- they are literally of no benefit to me. High Beam- can't tell I'm wearing it, Benetint- same.

I think I'm too old for Benefit Blush

Crocodillian · 20/08/2016 21:20

I used to use it but now use Bare Minerals Prime Time. I loved that the Benefit one was so sof but when I found a free sample of the Prime Time I was hooked. I say found because for the life of me I dont know how it ended up in my make up bag. I have lots of sisters so assumed that it was donated to me. Interested to read about Avon's primer Im going to check it out

MrsHam13 · 20/08/2016 21:56

I have previously been an account manager for Benefit. It literally would make some peoples skin look so less porous then as soon as you apply foundation it's back to normal.

Personally the best 'primer' I have used and now use on clients for amazing staying power of your make up is Nivea sensitive aftershave balm..They also do an actual primer that's pretty good too. I'd never use another expensive primer again.

Mrsderekshepard · 20/08/2016 22:22

I really like it but I put it over my foundation and it instantly hides my mHoosive pores

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 21/08/2016 01:26

Not a fan of any of the silicone primers - urban decay, Smashbox, benefit (dr feel good was better).

Primers just don't work for me. Setting spray is my thing.

Kirriemuir · 21/08/2016 07:29

Is the Nivea one this one?

dudsville · 21/08/2016 08:46

I didn't bother finishing the tube of pore...whatsit. I do kind of like the maybeline baby soft whatsit. (I never remember what things are called! )

dudsville · 21/08/2016 08:47

Oh and I'm trying a sample of a khiel's resurfacing thing that seems similar. Nice but not nice enough for the price tag.
