Do you keep items you really do not need because you bought them cheap?

For example, a pair of shoes that you got on sale. You have a lot of shoes. But you got this for maybe 40% off. Something like this.

I wouldn't buy them in the first place and if you're going to get rid anyway they are now more than full price aren't they because you've never worn them

Feckinlego · 18/08/2016 10:08

I would be more likely to get rid of stuff like that. It's expensive things I keep hold of.

IJustLostTheGame · 18/08/2016 10:13

I used to until I discovered Konmari.....
Now nothing is safe.

I hate having to admit I made an error because of a discount. I have one such item left. I think i must stroke it gently whisper my thanks and send it out to find its rightful wearer.

I used to buy now I value the space and declutter like mad.

I have one bag of clothes (pricier tops) under the bed I am determined to wear again post babies.

But all shoes, everyday stuff I don't wear has gone to the charity shop.

I have a bloody great harp at home, in case i ever want to play it again as "i can't afford to replace it"

Pisssssedofff · 18/08/2016 10:55

Wow - a harp ?

PassiveAgressiveQueen · 18/08/2016 13:59

Yes and it is a pain, i can't put it in the loft as they can't get to hot or cold as the wood will warp, it needs to be kept strung for the same reason, and it takes up much wanted space.

One day i will get angry enough and sell it.

Pisssssedofff · 18/08/2016 14:55

That's funny, try and look at it as it deserves to be played and loved, like maybe a pet that's not getting enough attention

Ohchristmastreeohchristmastree · 18/08/2016 14:57

I love decluttering - nothing is safe in my house either.

eBay it or charity shop would my answer.

PassiveAgressiveQueen · 18/08/2016 15:09

I like the pet analogy, that might actually get it shifted

Toxicity · 18/08/2016 15:43

I used to but in the last year or so I have realised I own way too much stuff so before I buy anything now I ask myself if I really need the item and if I don't, then I ask myself how much I love it - honestly just asking myself those two things has made a big difference!
