Very little time for self - what one thing would you do

To make the most difference in appearance.

Toddler and baby that hates sleep, husband long hours, blah etc. What one thing makes the best change in appearance fast?! I'm on a slippery slope and have stopped conditioning hair, wearing makeup, ironing etc. I want to fight back a little...

Full length mirror near the front door. Brutal but effective.

You will find yourself fixing the frizzy hair and choosing a better fitting top in the 2.5 minutes you have to get ready in the morning because you know you will see yourself in that mirror before you leave.

oldlaundbooth · 20/08/2016 01:09

Honestly?

Drink more water.

oldlaundbooth · 20/08/2016 01:14

Slap conditioner on overnight, sleep on an old towel. Shampoo hair as normal the morning after.

Get eyelashes dyed (if you've time, ha)

Dry clothes in tumble dryer, fold as soon as you get them out. They won't crease.

Fake tan. Makes you look brighter. Easy fix.

I know there's more than one but it's Friday night! Wine

Clean hair, whether it's loose or tied back.

Bb cream (I love Garnier because they've brought out an extra fair shade)/maybe some concealer, recommend the collection brand at boots, the stick concealer at £1.99 is the best I've used.

Mascara

Tinted lip balm

Alisvolatpropiis · 20/08/2016 01:19

Oh and buffed nails.

Cockblocktopus · 20/08/2016 01:48

In order of if I get time:

Eyebrow threading
Brow and lash tinting
Haircut (I asked for a haircut that doesn't need re cutting too often)
Make up (tinted moisturiser/eyeshadow stick/blush/tinted lip balm/mascara)

Sleep, good face cleansing care, a walk outside and lots of water are the best too!

Strawclutching · 20/08/2016 07:41

Get gel nails done then for at least 2-3 weeks you have tidy hands!

Oh2beatsea · 20/08/2016 10:14

What about having a good haircut and a conditioning treatment at the hairdressers? That always helps to make you feel better.

I'm assuming you're younger than me because I have teens! If I could speak to my younger self when my DCs were the age yours are, I would agree with pp who said drink more water. Your future skin will thank you! (I know you're asking about what to do for NOW though, but this is easy quick and cheap and well worth it). Actually it will help you now too, as you'll feel better if you're well hydrated anyway.

Otherwise I agree with everyone who's said hair, nails, brow/lash tint (that's a few things though- if I had to pick one I'd say brows because hair can always be tied up or back and still look ok depending on length of course).
Don't worry about not ironing. Loads of stuff dries well and doesn't need to be ironed anyway if you hang it on the airer or line carefully. I would worry however about not conditioning your hair. Have you thought of showering last thing at night - as long as you have clean sheets and PJ's this is fine and you can have a quick wash in the morning....
Make sure you cleanse your skin well even if you've not worn makeup.
It's a hard stage I know.

Good, easy haircut every 8 weeks or so.
A brightish lipstick (if you feel comfy with that) lights up a face like nothing else.
Neat brows and a bit of mascara.
I've been using a bit of castor oil on my lashes and brows before bed and they seem fuller/longer.

MarksandSpencerfoodjunkie · 20/08/2016 19:49

Exercise - dvd - yoga/Gillian Michaels or anything that makes me sweat/stretch for 30 minutes. Everything feels better and I can handle anything - including two young DCs and a full time job. Exercise improves my mood and my skin- and makes me drink more water.

dementedma · 20/08/2016 19:59

Agree Garnier BB cream. I wear that and eye-shadow and that's the face done.
Getting eye brows done makes a big difference.

ceeveebee · 20/08/2016 20:01

Definitely hair for me - I would be totally grey if I didn't dye it so I have always made time to go to hairdressers every 6 weeks
Also if I have time I have nails done and waxing but that's less important to me!
