What to do with fine damaged mousey hair?

My hair is getting me down. I've always hated it apart from when I was a teenager and it was long and highlighted and a few years ago pre dc I had a blonde long pixie.

I would go back to the pixie as its probably best option for my hair type but I'm quite a bit bigger than I was and don't want to look old/frumpy. Plus it's expensive going to hairdressers every six weeks!
Can't really grow it longer though as its so damaged and fine. I won't get extensions for millions of reasons. What to do?!

Would you be able to post a photo so we can advise on alternative hair styles?

In the meantime, I would be concentrating on improving the condition. Hair conditioning packs, good diet with plenty of proteins and kelp tablets.

What you have against hair extensions? I have natural blonde hair. But it's very thin and short. I bought natural hair extensions 'cause I always dreamed about long hair. I wait till my hair grow long then I will remove extensions.
