Mint Velvet - they sure do love GREY

I've had a scroll through their new stuff and I feel like I'm watching an old film from the 40s.

Shake it up a little bit Mint Velvet.

I like some of it mind you.

I really like grey. Unfortunately I think MV is largely v over-priced for what it is, and there's far too much polyester. It was much nicer when it first started.

hollieberrie · 17/08/2016 19:00

I love grey. Unfortunately I do not love MV. To steal an adjective from another S&B thread, I find it far too prissy.

NeonPinkNails · 17/08/2016 19:03

I also love grey but not as much as MV do! I really like some of their stuff but it's very pricey and often not as nice in real life as the things look online.

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 17/08/2016 19:07

Not just their new range, I've never seen anything in MV that isn't grey, white or beige

Complete dullsville IMO and overpriced too

i8sum314 · 17/08/2016 19:26

I have their phoenix jeans but i could do grey top grey bottom!!

I love grey. I used to love MV. I used to buy almost all of my clothes from there but over the past 2-3 years the prices have risen steadily as the quality has fallen. They now specialise in expensive acrylic and polyester. No thanks.

MagentaRose72 · 17/08/2016 21:03

There is grey - and then there's GREY. Some grey's can be beautiful. But I wouldn't buy from MV as I have a shrinking fear of touching anything synthetic.

Might as well go to Primark if you're going to wear synthetic nonsense! Wink

Crispsheets · 17/08/2016 21:04

Oh it's so dull....I have a few pieces but just sigh at the range now. Seen it all before.

TheMightyMing · 17/08/2016 22:36

First couple of seasons were great, now everything is baggy, appliqués/patterned and just dull, that awful washed out Grey and pink! I did order a leather skirt which was lovely, but too short for me.

ZansSerif · 18/08/2016 00:05

I love grey and abstract patterns so when I see MV stuff (for example in John Lewis from 20 feet away) I think "ooh that looks nice!". Then I get close up to it and somehow each individual item doesn't do it for me at all. I still don't get the endless polyester thing – if it's going to be priced so high, why does it have to be polyester? And Whistles I'm looking at you too.

If you like grey, All Saints has much nicer things in some lovely fabrics, if you have a good rummage.

QueenofLouisiana · 18/08/2016 15:48

I like grey too, but I agree that MV are a bit too keen.

I have a lovely black lace dress from MV but I got it on eBay so it predates their grey period.

WhooooAmI24601 · 18/08/2016 15:49

Their skinny jeans are the best I've ever found, and their boots for winter are always beautiful. Not a fan of their knitwear though, and their tops are pricey for the quality.

absolutelynotfabulous · 18/08/2016 21:42

In desperation to escape the relentless greige, I bought a MV oversized top in...ORANGE. No one else would buy it, obviously. I quite like it, though.

i8sum314 · 18/08/2016 21:46

I'm shocked they ever had an orange top!

absolutelynotfabulous · 18/08/2016 21:55

They had a green one tooWink. Not in my size, thankfully.

PollyPerky · 18/08/2016 22:32

I love grey but don't like synthetic and they are over priced, hugely.
They do have pale pink, pale blue and black, as well as grey. I find many of their styles unflattering- baggy and shapeless - so although I'm drawn to the shades, I end up buying very little.

Glitteryfrog · 19/08/2016 08:34

I LOVE grey (I look like a walking storm cloud) however mint Velvet is wierd.
Fairly nice jumper... But then has a polyester ruffle around the bottom (which you can't see from across the shop).
It's like per una with the colour removed.

Primadonnagirl · 19/08/2016 08:40

I like my own phrase re MV " It's like a goth got in the whites wash" Grin
