Is Balayage really quicker than full foil highlights?

I have full or half head foils every 9 weeks and it takes 3 hours (with cut and blow job)

Is Balayage much quicker? I'm reading about it in Good Housekeeping

No idea, but GrinGrinGrin at your typo.

Mine take ages because she has to tint the roots first. About 3 hours in all.

It's usually quicker than full head but the over all results will be much different. I'm guessing if you are used to having a full head you've got a block colour going on now. I presume they would need to dye your hair a darker shade all over and then add baylage to lighten. If you just started having it done now your regrowth would be shocking as they normally free - hand paint you see (not the roots)

I have balayage and not only is it quicker than foil highlights, it is also far better!

The best person to ask is your hairstylist.

But with balayage, you don't need it done every 6-8 weeks! You can go up to 6 months without it being dyed :)

I have highlights to cover and minimise the huge amount of grey hair. I've got mid brown hair and all over different tones of blonde - I also have to have my hairline tinted as it's completely grey at the temples.

I'm not sure it's suitable for me after what you've all said.

I guess I'd have to get my roots dyed often with the Balayage added after?

My hairdresser doesn't do it.

Balayage works best on virgin hair...

But it sounds like you need the roots darkened and hairline and the blonde bit made the same shade! It may take longer than 3 hours, find a salon that does balayage and Olaplex!

Balayage is great for disguising grey/white hair - I a white at the temples and have quite a lot of white in my natural dark blonde hair and blond balayage is great.

I have had balayage done for the last 12 months. Had to swap hairdressers as my previous one tried it but didn't really get it right. I have only had my hair done 4 times in the year as I just touch up my roots in between at home. I'm dark with varying blondes through my hair.

(Totally failed to answer question) It's the same time at the hairdressers but I'm not there as often

VimFuego101 · 14/08/2016 16:34

That looks lovely janknitti, exactly what I want to do with my hair!

LaurieFairyCake · 14/08/2016 16:35

Your hair looks absolutely gorgeous ! So soft looking with the colour

Wow thank you. Doesn't look like that all the time- I've got 3 kids ! But I found an Aveda salon who do the colours I wanted and my hair condition has improved massively. I do find the highlights can go a bit brassy because my base hair is so dark so I either put a toner over them myself or just pull a bit of dark brown through to the ends on thin strands when I do my roots.

Had mine done over a year ago and still looks fine
