Hi, I just bought wide leg cropped cords from Cos. No idea what boots to wear with them for autumn/winter. What would you recommend?

Boots with cropped wide trousers? Finding it hard to visualise that one.

I think you'd need a heel if you're going to wear boots with cropped cords. It could look a bit 1970s in a good way if you wore knee-length boots.

Can you link to the image?

Are you on Pintrest? I typed in "wide cropped trousers, boots", there seems to be a few ideas but all on tall, willowy models. It's definitely not a look 5'1" me could pull off.

No boot with cropped trousers, ever.

PNGirl · 14/08/2016 00:03

I can only think of brogues (shoes) or posh trainers to go with those. No boots.

burnishedsilver · 14/08/2016 00:42

These?
I think brogues or loafers would be best.

Loads of styling in the stores for cropped wide legs with boots. Sounds ugly now but I'm sure it will catch on and eventually look normal.have a look at topshop`s boots on their site. Sock boots with a heel seem to be a thing this year for under trousers.

FashionFiend · 14/08/2016 09:41

Thanks very much for all your replies. Those are the cords burnishedsilver. Really like the first pic fuzzypeggy. Might try to get boots like those ones. Brogues/loafers would look great but how do you wear them in the depths of winter, your ankles would be freezing!

Thanks sun 16. Bought the cords because I'm tired of wearing jeans all the time. Worried they might be tricky to wear. I'll hang onto them for the time being and see if I can get nice boots to go with them. I'll check out topshop.

It's a very tricky look to carry off.

In winter I would wear flesh coloured pop socks and Chelsea boots or brogues with ankle socks over pop socks.

burnishedsilver · 14/08/2016 10:17

I agree about cold ankles but boots with cropped trousers always make me think of Star Trek.

I'd like to work this out too, not so much wide legs but I'm enjoying wearing girlfriend jeans or narrow leg trousers with brogues and I want to find a way of carrying on once it gets colder. I really don't want to end up back in skinnies.

I'm sure it can't be that outrageous - no-one turns a hair at a midi skirt and boots.

Fuzzypeggy · 14/08/2016 10:38

That's what I think floisme. I have been wearing some black long culottes, soft not structured, with flats, heels, trainers etc through the summer. I don't see any reason why they won't work with knee length boots as they basically look just like a midi skirt
