School uniform trousers

I've promised to buy first set of school uniform for my 5 y/o grandson - got the logo top bits - now need grey trousers.

Way back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and I was buying for my lot, M&S seemed to be best quality/VFM.

Does this hold true still ?
