Mismatched Suit

Is this ok?

My husband can't fit into the suit pants. Would it be ok to buy separate pants and wear them together or will it be very noticeable?

I wouldn't try and colour and/or fabric match, that will look bad. I'd go for a contrasting colour e.g. black jacket with grey trousers or vice versa.

Also depends on the occasion, and how formal the requirement is.

Yes either it should be exactly the same colour and fabric, or a totally different one. Almost similar does not look good.

It's a cocktail event but they were told they can wear work suits. He does not wear a suit to work though.

How about if he wears gray pants? I doubt we can find the exact same colour and fabric.
