What do you wear with tan Chelsea boots?

I have a thing for flat Chelsea boots. I've always bought a cheap high street pair every winter, but last year invested in a black pair of Dr Martens ones and they are amazing.

I've just picked up a tan pair of the same Dr Martens in the Office sale for an absolute bargain (reduced to £67 then an extra 25% off with a code) and they looks beautiful, but I don't know what I'd wear them with. The black just seem to go with everything.

In winter I usually wear a dress (I generally swing towards navy, grey, burgundy colours) with black tights and a camel wool coat.

Would this go with the tan boots or not? I feel weird about wearing black tights with tan boots!

Dr martens website. And I've just looked you can get 10% off if it's your first order. I'm not sure if that offer is valid on sale items though.

Thanks Pippin8 . I found some on the CountryAttire site in their sale for 85.95 , plus I got another 10% off through uni days. So I've ordered them in black and burgundy with the intention of keeping only one pair Grin

Nearlyadoctor · 13/08/2016 16:45

Jellybea where did you order your red ones from please?

winchesterfan · 13/08/2016 17:18

How does the sizing come up on these?
I'm go between a 4 & 5, I've got 3 pairs of DMs in a 4 & one in a 5, so would a 4 be ok?
Do they go quite narrow by the toes?

JellyBea · 13/08/2016 17:36

Winchester I think a 4 would be fine for you in these. They are roomy.

I got my cherry ones from eBay, but from a reputable seller with really good feedback. I'll see if I can link them for you. I've not seen them as cheap as £75 before!

They grey are lovely! Not seen them before. These are definitely becoming the new MN boots Grin

They have some nice tan Chelsea boots in M&S at the moment. Properly tan (not orange). I tried them on before following on like a sheep and realising that they are indeed at just the right height to make my legs look extra fat and my wide feet mean I can't get the things off in a hurry.
I will cheer you all from the sidelines!

winchesterfan · 13/08/2016 19:29

I've ordered the tan ones, hope the 4 fits ok

Nearlyadoctor · 13/08/2016 20:06

Thanks Jelly still making my mind up having bought tan Chelsea boots yesterday can I justify a pair. Never wore them as a teenager and wondering whether 44 is too late to start..........
Now red or black???

Pippin8 · 13/08/2016 21:34

Even better bargains.
I've just been on the country attire site & the grey are £65, the black & cherry red £83. Plus there is an extra 10% off with code BRIT10.

AyeAmarok · 13/08/2016 21:53

Those of you thinking they're too orangey, why don't you just give them a quick brush (especially round the toe) with a medium tan polish?

Seems a shame to have to forgo such a good boot that's such a bargain!

It's what I do with lots of my tan leather shoes as I prefer my tan to be a bit darker/deeper/oldy vintage furniture looking, rather than the lighter tans you sometimes get.

I always do the toe a tiny bit darker too.

Suppose it's a bit scary doing it on a brand new pair that you might want to return though!

jelly10 · 14/08/2016 08:32

Ooh, I'm getting drawn in despite having decided I wouldn't.... How do the boots look with skirts/dresses? Are they very clumpy? I'm not keen on very cute little boots with dresses on me, but also not very heavy either iyswim. I'm thinking plain a-line skirt for example - would they work with that?? Probably not black for me - maybe the grey?

Pippin8 · 14/08/2016 10:13

I think they would, I'm hoping so. I've seen this green dress im hoping to wear with the tan boots.

Then I'm thinking, brown chunky cardi or camel coat?

Green dress is lovely Pippin. Would look great with the boots!

They aren't too chunky. I usually avoid DM's like the plague because being already fairly large of foot they make me feel like a clown and they remind me of Uni but this style is quite neat.

I sized down as I was between sizes which made a difference too though.

jelly10 · 14/08/2016 12:43

Love that dress Pippin. Thanks winefairy, I'm the same with DMs but if these are neater than other styles I might give them a try.

doctorboo · 14/08/2016 12:58

Right. I want them. I'm imaging them with dresses, skirts, straight leg trous.

Jelly love your coat! Pippin8 that's a lovely dress.

So I have wide but short size 5 feet, do you think I should get them in a size 5????

dottyaboutstripes · 14/08/2016 14:02

I'm a wide size 5 and they were a bit too big .
I did find them to chunky and felt they came up to a bit of a strange height on my leg - maybe I'm just too short at 5ft1??

winefairyagain · 14/08/2016 14:26

I'm a very wide (think flippers) size 6 and quite a bit. Usually play safe with a 7 but got these in a 6 and they are perfect. I'm 5'6 and the length was fine.

The right boot had obviously been out on the shop floor and was more worn in hence the left one felt a little stiffer around the ankle but nothing I now know won't soften very quickly.

As I said, I don't find them chunky (one of my pet hates) but it's all relative I guess.

doctorboo · 14/08/2016 15:29

winefairy thank you for your help. I was the girl in extra extra wide shit sensible shoes from the moment I could walk. I was always envious of my slim footed friends 😀. I've been given some dosh (either £40 or £150, TBD) and am torn between these and a darker version...

I remember that trauma doctorboo. The feet measuring and subsequent humiliation when they would dust off the only shoes in the shop that would fit.

Once when I was having a wobble the assistant said if I didn't like the shoe then the only other thing wide enough were the boxes Grin I can laugh about it now

I love the colour mainly because it doesn't scream DM and it's neutral enough to go with everything else I wear. And they were £53 including delivery.
