Would this coat be an expensive mistake?

this camel coat

It would be the most expensive thing I've ever had.

I've wanted a camel wool coat for years and, in the picture at least, this is exactly the style I'd love.

It'd mean I'd could buy nothing else this Autumn or winter for many years

Please be honest, would this be worth the money.

Is it nice?

I know it probably doesn't look as if it cost that much and some people would think it's ridiculous to spend so much. I probably think it's ridiculous to spend so much! Arghhhhh, should I order it?

I don't want to make an expensive mistake.

please tell me it's hideous

It's a tad old lady for me.

I prefer this

Sorry the above one is sold out.

I prefer this max mara style

Hobbs have this www.hobbs.co.uk/product/display?productID=0216-3464-2518L00&productvarid=0216-3464-2518L00-CAMEL-12&refpage=coats-jackets which I prefer but that is because i need a belt that goes all the way around to give definition. It is actual camel hair rather than Wool so should be very light and very warm

Definitely a worthwhile investment piece. Way more stylish than Alexon! I think MM are not 'ridiculously expensive' but great quality which lasts and looks elegant for years. Several of my coats are Marina Rinaldi, the 'plus' arm of Max Mara - have spent similar amounts on them to this and never regretted it.

Snog · 09/08/2016 08:14

Does the colour suit you?
If it don't buy it!

CoolCarrie · 09/08/2016 09:36

Lovely coat, go for it, but you must try it on! Enjoy it

polyhymnia · 09/08/2016 10:48

But agree with others you need to be sure fit and colour right for you.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 09/08/2016 10:59

I have many max mara coats, love them. They last very well, go for it!

JellyBea · 09/08/2016 13:29

I'm not keen on the stitching either.

I absolutely love my camel coat though. It's cashmere wool and I picked it up in a vintage shop for £15!! Fits me like a glove.

I would highly recommend one as I wore mine constantly through last winter. Think of cost per wear Wink It's one of those classic items which will always look great no matter what.

JonahAndTheSale · 09/08/2016 13:36

Ok so I'm going to order itGrin

If I think it's a keeper I will post a picture on here so you experts can cast a critical eye over it before I cut the labels off!

Can you tell I'm not used to spending so much money on a single purchase!!

I can afford it but it would need to be perfect! I would fully be expecting to wear it for the next ten years.

I wouldn't cut the label off a MaxMara coat personally!

JellyBea · 09/08/2016 14:17

I think she means the swing tags!

MassDebate · 09/08/2016 15:14

Jonah Matches.com have discount codes from time to time so I'd recommend looking around for one before you order! Even 10% off is a decent reduction on something of that price (lovely coat btw - I have a similar one from Hugo Boss and always feel put together when I wear it).

JonahAndTheSale · 09/08/2016 21:58

Mass thanks so much for that! I'll definitely look out for a code!

That's a beautiful coat. The only thing that I'd be wary of is the colour. Yes, it's classic, but it only works on some people. If you're one of them, go for it. A really elegant coat like that will work for you for years.

SwedishEdith · 09/08/2016 22:13

It is actual camel hair Shock

I had always assumed camel coats were just called that because of the colour.

It's a good looking coat but it will depend on your colouring. I agree that it'd look equally good dressed down - even better than dressed up, actually.
