Break out prevention help!

I always have a place right of my chin that has spots that constantly break out. Can they be prevented before the turn into nasty raging spots? I have a wedding on Wednesday. Don't want to be spotty!!! Can i put something on them now before they come to a head?

I should say, that constantly break out in the summer with any heat.

My skin appears to still think I'm a teenager, so far what I've found works for me best is to

-start using Salicylic acid - boots/superdrug/supermarket do these Clearasil pads for a quick fix intro. Prevention!
-this stuff is amazing at reducing them, you pop it on at night (apply with a cotton bud) and they're hugely reduced if not totally gone by the morning. Cure!

I cannot believe i have more spots than i have had at any time in my life. Its ridiculous and depressing. It mostly happens when it is warm. The curse of combination skin. I have normal on cheeks and oily t-bar.

Yes, salicylic acid will help greatly in your routine, I am now normal skinned instead of combo because of it. If you're willing to spend the money Paula's Choice 2% BHA liquid is v. good. On the flip side that Mario Badescu drying lotion did nothing for me. It might be worth looking into La Roche Posay Zerosinc too.

A clay mask will also help greatly with the run up to your event and doesn't need to cost much at all. Just slap it on topically and remove it when the edges get dry, it can be too drying otherwise which encourages more sebum production and therefore more breakouts.

Funny I've got serozinc and my skin sort of shrugs and goes meh, is that all you've got! Similarly lrp effaclar which loads of people love didn't work for me. It's probably worth trying the drying lotion purely because ime if it works for your skin it's very quick to work.

I like the Paula''s choice too, I also use glycolic acid which seems to help with the overall smoothNess and texture of my skin.

I've got the new L'Oréal clay mask to try out too. I also tried tge Lush fresh mask called Rose something which was lovely and calming, seems to have knocked out some of the general redness.

Been on a bit of a skin fixing mission recently as we're renewing our vows in a couple of weeks and it's given me a kick up the ass.

I think serozinc is helpful in calming everything down more than anything, it's not much of a life changing product but I do find it helpful in an emergency as a first line of defense.

I suspect the MB drying lotion's efficacy is rather dependant on the type of breakout you have, mine is either hormonal (which plays by its own rules) or as a result of build up of either dead skin cells and/or product so it's more of a purge really and I think drying it out has little effect on that process. I gave mine away to someone acne prone and while it worked a little bit for them it wasn't super effective either.

Congrats on the wedding vow renewals StatisticallyChallenged , if you're looking for something special to knock it up a gear see if you can snag a glamglow supermud sample somewhere. On account of the ridiculous price tag and cringe worthy marketing I refuse to actually spend my money on them but they are some of the best clay masks I've ever tried and save to use for special occasions. Full of acids, including salicylic and glycolic, and some great types of clay. The added tea leaves are a bit of an annoying added faff though. It tightens and cleans out pores beautifully and really leaves you with noticeably great skin with proper glow.

I think my skin would struggle to have a build up of anything on it just now getting too much treatment!! I think the drying lotion has probably been working because I've been getting it on as soon as the hint of a bump starts - it wasn't so effective on one that was already fully formed and evil!

I hear you on the hormonal spots, I reckon anyone observant in my office must know where I am in my cycle by the state of my face
