Most expensive item of clothing you own?

Aside from leather jackets, coats, etc?

I am currently lusting after a skirt but I have never bought a skirt around this price. My clothes are mostly in the $50 range.

I bought a lovely dress for my Sister's wedding about 5 years ago £400, bad move as I rarely wore it afterwards and after I put some weight on it stayed in the Wardrobe, I donated it to the local Hospice two years ago.

I've got a gorgeous pair of navy ankle boots with studs, I love 'em and wear them to death, they were £300, best buy ever.

pasturesgreen · 06/08/2016 17:35

My Burberry trench coat was around £500 outlet price about 8 years ago. Still going strong and I expect I'll keep it for life if I don't put on weight.

I have a Burberry cashmere mix duffle coat type thing which was similarly priced, again about 7 years ago.

I might have a lot couple of designer scarves laying around...think Hermes, Pucci, Ferragamo and the like...All £200+ to buy, probably what I'd save in a house fire Grin

Also currently toying with the idea of purchasing a Max Mara silk flower print shirt dress which I've fallen in love with and is around £250.

BathshuaSpooner · 06/08/2016 17:47

I had a gown made for an event I had to attend. I am five feet tall with boobs and an ass and knew I would spend a zillion on alterations anyway. I felt like a princess in my gorgeous dress. It now resides happily in my closet, just waiting for another opportunity to show off.

Coats with cashmere at £260. Can't get excited by handbags thank god

AmberNectarine · 06/08/2016 20:03

Handbags and shoes: dollar. Four figure stuff

Clothes: I have a Versace dress which was about £450 back in January. Love it to death though. I have quite a few c. £300 dresses. My Helmut Lang leather leggings were about £700 but they are worn a lot. Also my Whistles leather jacket was a shade over £300 last autumn, I think. So soft though.

Hopefully · 06/08/2016 20:48

Apart from leather leggings, leather biker and a handbag or two, I think my most expensive current item of clothing is a pair of Stella McCartney Adidas trainers which were c.£175. Have had dresses, cashmere and shoes that were more expensive in the past, but nothing else that pricey in my wardrobe ATM. Coincidence rather than budget constraints though - I don't mind spending when I find the perfect item, but I have found a lot of perfect items in H&M over the last year or two!

ikeahauler · 06/08/2016 20:58

hmm, i dont like spending on clothes, cheap or high end high street, i destroy things. probably a north face down coat at £150, the rest of my things are around £20 for tops, £40 for a dress and £25 for jeans but i've bought a lot this year because didnt spend a lot previous two years.

Oldraver · 06/08/2016 21:21

I'm not an expensive clothing kinda gal..

I have a Jack Wolfskin 3 in 1 parka anorak that should of been £250, but I dithered so much and didnt want to pay that amount that it was reduced to £130 by the time I got round to buying it.

I have some gorgeous electric blue New Rocks that I paid £80 for in sale 12 years ago.. OMG have just Goggled and they are £248 Shock

Heatherjayne1972 · 06/08/2016 21:48

£90 pair of shoes !

Shesinfashion · 06/08/2016 22:05

My wedding dress. £5,000.

JaceLancs · 06/08/2016 22:06

2 jaeger coats
I am obsessed with cashmere but more quantity than price as I've never spent over £75 on a sweater or cardigan
Peter Kaiser shoes 2 pairs
Russel and Bromley boots
Jaeger leather shopper
My worst extravagance is jewellery.......

LadyB49 · 06/08/2016 22:23

Jaegar cashmere coat but got it in outlet sale for £100.
More of a Fossil handbag standard but buy off eBay. Got one this week for £18.

libertydoddle · 06/08/2016 23:03

Spent £130 on a Goat cashmere cardigan on the Outnet at 70℅ off. Quality is amazing. I honestly think I'll be wearing it for the next 20 years. Most OTT buy was a pair of Paige skinnies at full price £230 Blush. And I am too fat for them ATM Blush

NewBallsPlease00 · 07/08/2016 14:16

A silk whistles jumpsuit about £260, I bloody love it and wear it often always getting compliments on it, so well worth it!

ravenia · 07/08/2016 14:42

Timberland Amston boots that cost around €145. I have two coats that on paper were around that amount but I got them on sale.

SapphireStrange · 07/08/2016 14:57

Probably my Dubarry country boots at three hundred and mumble pounds.

Don't wear them all that much, but they're invaluable when I do need them (for rain and mud). And I love them.

noisyrice · 07/08/2016 15:03

A Ted Baker leather bag at £179
A pair of pyjamas at £50
Jeans - maybe £42?

With shoes, the most expensive pair I currently own would be £30 Topshop heels that haven't been worn (yet!)

I love raiding charity shops for granny cardigans / woollen floral cardigans. I mostly get shoes from Primark/Marks and Spencer kids section (size 4 = cheap as fuck shoes) and basics are generally from Primark and then 'better' stuff from Topshop/H&M/Warehouse.

I haven't been clothes shopping and actually bought anything for months.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 07/08/2016 17:24

DKNY grey and black dress
Two Biba dresses and a Biba blouse
Vivienne westwood skirt
Alexander McQueen scarf that i was very very kindly given

i have various bits of vivienne westwood and alexander mcqueen jewellery including a watch

228agreenend · 07/08/2016 17:31

Josef Seidel shoe -£65

Jäger trousers - my bargain of the day (yesterday). Were £99 new. I paid £6! Just have to loose a few pounds to fit into them!

QueenoftheAndals · 07/08/2016 17:36

Probably a Hobbs knee length winter coat that cost about £200. My ex bought it for me about ten years ago. My leather knee boots were the equivalent of about £100 in Florence about 14 years ago. But they're probably my best buy ever, given how long they've lasted.

BlueEyedWonder · 07/08/2016 19:24

I have a low boredom threshold with clothes and shoes so never spend too much on a single item for fear I'll fall out of love with it.
I have a leather jacket that I paid £100 for, a pair of animal print heels that I paid £80 for and a few cashmere pieced that I paid around £60 for in sales, reduced from £100+

Phillipa12 · 07/08/2016 19:34

A pair of spanish riding boots that cost £200, they replaced my old pair that finally wore out after 13 years of continuous use. Also a tweed poncho that my sister got me for my 40th but i know it cost £170 as i had a choice of two, and a Karen Millen bag at £250 thats in the attic awaiting the disposal of my baby change bag!. Everything else in my wardrobe is under £50.

ginghamstarfish · 07/08/2016 20:19

I don't think I've ever spent more than £50 on a single item.

FinnFamilyMoomintroll · 07/08/2016 20:28

Boots and coats aside, probably a cashmere cardigan which was about £150 I think. I have a lot of designer stuff but mostly second-hand/vintage so not so pricey.

PinkGeranium · 07/08/2016 20:31

Whistles leather biker £250
Mulberry Alexa was a gift.
Love them both
